Sallanches based Dynastar is to receive a massive cash injection of Euro 38 million from its owners, Rossignol. A statement from the board of directors claims that Dynastar is losing over Euro 1 million a week.

That has got me thinking I wonder how much a ski shop pays for a pair of skis, I guess cheaper deals for bulk purchase ????

Not sure, if you knew the cost to a manufacturer you would never pay anywhere near RRP ever again :shock:

Same with most things, probably a pretty decent mark up (I would imagine, especially buying in large quantities).

Some big manufacturers make skis specifically for the rental market so they would be pretty cheap (excluding 'top of the line' rentals), if they are renting out a pair of skis for 15 weeks a season at GBP50 a week they make a pretty good return on the skis keeping in mind last years middle of the range skis may well become next years bottom line = big returns :)

I do think Dynastar are in a better position than they were a month ago. To me, it says the parent company is at least awake (currently) I still can't quite believe that they are going to put their unsold stock in the skip, seems a wicked waste. I suspect it's an attempt to restrict supply in coming years and keep prices up :evil:

count me in! I can't afford or really have the need for my own ski's but free one's will go down a treat!

That's ridiculous, EVERYONE has a need for their own pair, usually multiple pairs are more appropriate :lol:

i have no need what so ever! I go one week a year, so until after uni it's hiring for me! 4 more years to go! Then i'll join your multiple pair group!
