Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

I had heard that Ski-Bilek were in trouble. They were on ebay for years with amazing ski deals. Now vanished from the site. A quick google brings up their company home page...

http://www.ski-bilek.de/

With details of an Insolvency sale, which is good for bargain hunters, but a shame for everyone else buying year on year. I did notice that an ebay trader in Scotland, had lots of skis listed in German language recently, so I wonder if they purchased their stock, and listing pages?

There is another reputable Germany based online trader on the UK ebay. Look for Westside Sport, their own site is...

http://sportpalette.de/

I have purchased from them, and they are fine. They have some K2 Extreme's with Marker Griffons for a very attractive GBP269 on ebay right now

No, I'm not going to ) Boots next for me, I'll be off to see cem :D

Re:Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

Ski Bilek weren't all the made themselves out to be. Similar to some of the other big European traders, they had an army of bidders increasing the bid value of items. I done a case study on them and in some instances one buyer had bought around 135 pairs of skis in a month! (Not to mention all the other items too.)
Lots of breaches of policy, never dealt with properly by eBay and injected personal information gathering pages, Pay Pal surcharges and slow delivery.
There are plenty of UK shops selling great deals with good support and full warranties.
A bargain is always good, but sometimes the bigger picture is better!

Re:Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

A quick search of another well known UK based snowsports forum turns up quite a few satisfied buyers. The last posts reads like someone from the UK ski retail industry dissing European retailers. If there were plenty of ski retailers offering good deals then no-one would ever buy abroad

Having an army of bidders is deceptive in my opinion... simple as that. Folk can buy what they like where they like and I like a good deal as much as anyone.
Don't like being conned into something though!

Re:Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

I don't understand the army of bidders thing.. they were selling on ebay too? Most people selling something expensive on ebay will have a friend bidding it up to make sure it goes for the amount they want. It might be a pain in the arse but it makes good business sense

Re:Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

Several years ago I bought three completely different things on ebay, and I had an email from some-one telling me to look back on the bidding for all three items. That was when the bidders name was shown. Sure enough the same bidders were bidding on everything I was bidding on. Strange as they were completely different items. I contacted ebay and it was a con, the person had 6 ebay accounts and was putting everything up. All their accounts were cancelled.

exactly, had that been happening with Ski Bilek it would have not gone unnoticed and they'd have been shut down on ebay sometime ago. Ebay seem to be getting better and better at spotting fraud using their automated systems, a load of stuff is going to get through but it's hard for someone to run a long term large scale scam.

Ski-Bilek, was an established ski dealership, with a shop, web store and an ebay shop. AFAIR I heard of no-one having problems with any section of their business.

Re:Is Ski-Bilek Gone for Good?

For the record.
What a load of absolute TOSH!
I have bought more than 10 pairs of skis (some with bindings) from Bilek or Skiprofis along with a couple of pairs of boots. I found their prices to be unbeatable and their service second to none. I think it is outrageous that people who have a similar interest (people that I have already bought from)should start whining about competition. Shill bidding? NONSENSE! IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE HEAT THEN GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN.
Isn't it about time that the greedy little local ski shops and the popular UK wintersports chains S&R, EB Etc had some competition? I think yes. I buy and sell skis on Ebay too and I welcome all comers. We all have the right to make an informed choice. I am DISGUSTED that sellers hide behind forums and whinge. IF YOU WANT THE BEST KIT FOR THE BEST PRICE THEN SHOP AROUND! That's what the interweb is all about isn't it? TITANPRO
