caron I think you should feel very proud of your achievement  Considering that the slushy conditions have accounted for a lot of injuries in strong and experienced skiers, you showed sound judgement!

Mention Snowdome to me in the summer, I'm expecting to have some new boots to bed in, and we could meet up mebbe :D

Yeah I have to say the giving up work did help a lot  Although I am now trying to think of ways and jobs that means I can do this for a few more years to come rather than having to settle back into the "legal" world again - the thought of a desk back in Manchester is not appealing at the minute!!

I am not sure when or where I will hit Chile for skiing but Portillo is pretty high on my hit list. Basically I am backpacking around South America and hit Rio on the 4th May and I have no specific timed plans thereafter except my flight to New Zealand leaves on the 9th August. If I end up in Portillo around those dates I will PM you.....

I have to say that my season out in MSA was fantastic and I loved it so much that, fingers crossed, I am hoping to spend the next season out there working

I can understand why you feel unsatisfied with your skiing for this year however as you said it was a stepping stone and it was better to take it easy this year to ensure you can enjoy the seasons to come rather than put yourself back 10 steps and put yourself in danger of spending another few seasons on the sidelines...... :)

All I had was 7 days in Val Thorens at Feb half-term, ski-ing about 5 hours per day, and a few days on dry ski slopes - Pembrey and Milton Keynes.

And I will have another couple of days on the dry ski slope at Manchester in June.

Pretty poor - but I have work, a daughter doing GCSE's, and restricted amounts of money.

Next year I will also only get 7 days, but in Courchevel 1550 this time.

Ally

Re:Season Overview

Well,
Ian I'm hoping that Courchevel 1550 won't cost any more than Val Thorens, as long as we only eat in our apartment and don't go bowling or anything, and only do window shopping.

The apartment is cheap enough, the ski lessons are a bit more expensive, and of course the 3 valley pass is exactly the same as in VT.

Back to work now - cleaning the floor tiles with acid cleaner - less than 2 weeks to go now before the holidaymakers arrive in our newly prepared holiday cottage and masses of work still to do.

Ally

If I get a 3rd trip in, it will be last minute so no particular plans regarding where to be honest.

Re:Season Overview

38 days, all in Niederau. Wasn't entirely planned that way, but I was very happy, given the lovely conditions this winter. Not sure it suited my OH, (to have two weeks in N.), since she does like to go to a new place each year. Given the broken leg recovery, it was probably the right thing for her.

A big bonus was meeting with so many J2skiers. Fourteen, at my last count, and two near misses, missed out skigirl and paralytic.

I would add that under the remit of "Season Overview", we might add our grateful thanks to Admin Dave, who keeps us all in order, in a skilful, humourous and kindly manner. Thank you Admin.
