Sport Conrad online store

Just wanted to let everyone know about what a good prompt service I received from these guys in Germany:

I purchased my otherhalf a new pair of skis at a fantastic knockdown price, and they turned up 4 days later. I am very pleased with them, the proof will be when she uses them next season, but they look just the job, and I bought them after some careful research into what they can do.

If you are looking for skis in particular (although they do other stuff as well) these boys are worth a shout. It costs 25 euros for delivery into the UK for a pair of skis, and you are best off searching for packages for skis and bindings, selecting the ski you want, then the binding (they give you quite a good choice) and getting them to attach the bindings before despatching them.

Its nice to report some good service for a change. Strangely enough from a NON English company..... 8)

You don't need the URL tags if you are putting a link in like that although if you put the web address after the first URL and an = and close the brackets AFTER you can get something that looks like this:

Is the wifey (were they for your better half?) happy with the skis? Are you happy with the position of the mount?

Errr.....I dont know. She hasnt seen them yet, and wont get to try them out until next season now. She did say she didnt think it was necessary to get them, but I want her to be able to do more all mountain skiing (which is what we end up doing with her on her pistey skis anyway) so I got them anyway. I hope she doesnt leave me tonight...!!!

I went for the standard mounting position in the end.
The bindings are Marker's and pretty decent, bearing in mind what I paid for the package. The skis look very funky. I hope they do what they are supposed to...

Whats all mountain? Why did you go for the standard mounting position and what other positions are there for the binding?

You can set the bindings further back in the ski for better floatation 8)

And women can have them set further forward to counter their different CoM, but as Tony is posting specifically about a Womens' model this is likely to have been factored into the ski build 8)

I've not tried moving the binding point personally, though I have skied 1 or 2 superb women specific skis....as well as some turkeys :lol:

All mountain ie not just pisted runs. We like to do a bit of off piste, some ski routes which are often not pisted, and generally anywhere we fancy, so traditional piste skis are not so good for when there is fresh snow or off piste skiing. However, I wanted to find something that was good on piste as well, and these got great reviews. Believe me, I did quite a lot of research.
I hope she will be able to ski more competently on different surfaces, as I found moving on to slightly wider skis a lot easier on and off piste, as did Ellistine on his twin tips.

I have bought 3 pairs of skis, and never tried any of them before I bought them, I just researched reviews and looked into the kind of usage and level they were suited to. My first pair were early intermediate and quite light, so I moved on from them quite quickly. My next pair I sought advice from the shop I bought them from, and changed what I was looking for to the ones advised to me, and found them brilliant. However, the last paid were kind of a mistake, but now I have skied on them I enjoyed them more than my others.

I just hope Mrs H enjoys these as much as I enjoyed my slightly wider skis as it should enable her to be more confident on any surface and tackle anything that we come up against.

Mine are 78mm in the waist. Mrs H's are 80mm. Not particularly wide, but that extra 10-12mm makes a difference and still enables you to ski comfortably on piste. In fact, I found it easier to get an edge on the wider skis, probably because of the sidecut not being as exaggerated as carving skis and therefore naturally a shorter distance to the surface along the side of the ski.
