Me and Mrs W's March 2010 adventure

Now listen guys I need your help as you have gathered me and Mrs W have a little four night ski break in March, Little W tucked away at Grandma's we go off and have a bit of our time, Ok you know the story,
Now this years trip to Adelboden was Ok but the ski area was not very well linked the previous year Passo Tonale Ok but a real beginners resort, so I have picked these last two resorts and really they have not matched up to La Thuile which was the year before Passo and was great, now 2010 I would like the full package a nice village, plenty of well linked skiing, snow sure, two hours from an airport max, I would like everything...
Here is your mission should you except it, find me the perfect resort which matches all the above criteria...... :D :D

I hate to say it Ian, but Austria really does fit the bill. What about a cozy log cabin in Finland

Have you ever considered Samoens?
Great little village, snow sure ski area with great skiing, an hour from Geneva.

Done a couple of short breaks there and both been successful.

Neige et Roc is a nice Hotel, the bus stops very close by.

Re:Me and Mrs W's March 2010 adventure

Hi Ian,

MMMMMmmmmmm tricky one this but i do have a suggestion have a butchers at Chalet Tarentaise in Le Pre (Direct link into the Les Arcs ski area near the chalet) the details are below.

http://www.optimumski.com/

Le Pre is just over two hours from Geneva ,Lyon ,Grenoble and Chambery airports,or can be reached via train to Bourg-Saint-Maurice then taxi up to Le Pre in about 20mins, or the owners may even collect you.

The prices are around 850euro per person, but this year from the week commencing 21st March there is a 50% reduction, and wold think next year they will probably be doing the same....which isn't at all bad for a fully catered chalet.

jon.

Serre Che has changed since you last went, its worth a shout. Or what about Sauze d'Oulx?
Fly into Innsbruck and have a break in St Anton or the more laid back Lech - you'd love that.
Or what about my old favourite haunt of Mayrhofen?
Schladming in a target for me for next season.
If its a short trip, maybe you ought to seriously look at Andermatt, Switzerland. Might just be perfect. Fly into Zurich, take the train and arrive relaxed.....
Just a few ideas.

Hi again :D

Actually i think snowb4ndit has hit on a winner with St.Anton.....

If its a romantic ski trip away from the kids you are after....you could ski up the Gampen side and on the way back down on the red it joins a blue track which goes under the lift into the trees and heads towards Nasserain, along this track in the woods you arrive at one of the Austrian alps hidden gems of a restaurant.....the old rustic Rodulhutte with it's large open fire. :D Unless you know its there you would miss it.

Can't think of a better place on a snowy day to stop for lunch, a bottle of good wine and the local speciality Tirolergrostl served in the pan it has been cooked in.....bliss :D after that the worlds you're lobster.

Also Lech & Zurs are close by and only a short bus ride away

jon.

Re:Me and Mrs W's March 2010 adventure

Mr PSC and myself spent a lovely weekend last weekend in St Martin de Belleville, France. Linked by a gondola and then a chairlift to the Three Valleys so the sking is superb. If you want a real romantic treat stay in La Bouitte in nearby St Marcel - http://www.la-bouitte.com/. Both villages are traditional and cosy. Not a lot to do off slope just some quiet bars and restaurants.

Just had our first days sailing of the season and it was superb - lovely spring sunshine and light breeze - some more days like this willkeepme going till New Years skiing!!
