Paragliding in Neiderau - Funny!

Those of you that have been to Neiderau (and there seems to be quite a few) may have seen Jurgen soaring the skies with his tandem Paraglider.

Well on our Wedding day my new Wife decided to have a go. Unfortunately running in ski boots it was never gonna be pretty :shock:

Watching it, I was really worried something was about to go horribly wrong. Your new wife must be very brave - well done.

That's one holiday activity definitely off my list!

The lady laughing in the background was the pilots wife. I thought if she is laughing the it must all be ok :mrgreen:

Knowing Mrs Ellis as I do, she would have loved every single second of that. She is quite mad in the nicest possible way, and the being dragged along on her face would only have added to the fun for her I would imagine.

I looked at them doing that in Mayrhofen over the past couple of years, and thought "Yeah, I could do that" and every time someone says "go on then" my bottom starts to twitch and I find a reason why not. I do think you have to either be totally fearless, mad as a box of frogs, or just pretty brave.
I know those that do it, and parachuting too, say its a massive rush and a fantastic feeling flying about above the ground.

Fair play to Kim, she is one hell of a gal.

i watched a couple of people take off from the top it did look a bit scarey and she is very brave well done x

It takes me an hour to download that on dial-up, but in this case, was entirely worthwhile. Wheee, what a result! Kim is so brave. I much prefer to be within 3 or 4 feet of the ground.

Now, here is the curious bit ~ I was skiing down the Merky and saw it! I was sure at the time it was a bail out, but it came Ok. It just didn't connect at the time, - I hadn't met Keith and Kim then. I do remember the thought ~ "another nutcase!"

I was going up on the Gondola a little earlier with Jurgen, and he was trying for the umpteenth time to persuade me to have a paraglide. On most occasions, the conversation revolves around the price he would charge for a Niederau regular. On this occasion I suggested that he would have to meet two conditions:-
~ his wife would be the pilot
~ I would be in the rear :shock: :twisted:

Hats off to Mrs Ell, good videoing Ell.

And that is still the best wedding photo, (outside of my sons, and my own, hastily), ever.

Not sure I would do it. I did a tandem freefall jump in Spain 2 years ago from about 14,000ft into cloud. Never been so frightened in my life, in no hurry to repeat it.

I did it in Courcheval, but we had skis on. Loved it. Simply amazing.

i am surprised at you Keith, thought you would have been into that kind of thing.
I keep thinking about doing it when I see it, but change my mind when it comes to actually doing it.
The guys in Mayrhofen were skiing off Penken mountain in tandems, no need for all the running.

I went parasailing in Thailand and, as beautiful as it was, all I could think was that I wanted to get down because the harness was extremely painful around my derrier :shock:

I did that in Mexico and it was fab, but, when I was up there, I could see frayed piece of chord and oould hear it creaking and thought "what the h*** am I doing this for"
I was glad to get down too! :D

I did it in Greece, parasailing that is, and I could see all the little fishes 8)
