Re:holiday in banff

Woodski, I came back on Thursday having had 2 weeks there and loved it also - been raving about it since we got back and would love to go again!

Pablo, Didn't make it to the Buffalo Lodge? Do you know someone in there? We did get to some great restaurants, my fave being Saltlik on Bear Street!

We stayed at Irwins Mountain Inn, it did exactly what it said on the tin - it was nothing special but had no faults either, it was clean and spacious and the staff we're very friendly and helpful and I would recommend!
Maybe a little more expensive than Saltlik

My parents were over visiting me last year and we headed there and it was around $300 for the 3 of us with drinks but I still can't get over how good it was.

Wow, not to bad as a treat but you couldn't do that every night!

Did you go into the Grizzly Steak House? I nearly got myself into trouble with the telephones at the tables!!!

Have you done any other resorts in Canada? I really fancy Fernie or over the border to Breckenridge (only if I feed up my piggy bank lots over the coming months). Unfortunately group consensus is that we have a cheaper do next year in Europe

I chickened out of Kicking Horse...heard it was all Double Black Diamonds!!

I'm mad enough to give some steep stuff a go if I'm feeling brave but the thought of bumps or trees or being left ungroomed... no sireee!

Revelstoke?? Not heard of that one, will google it now... :D

He came in the end, it was literally the day before when it was a definite! It had been on and off so many times, cost us another GBP50 each to book the lift passes on the transfer but never mind at least he made it in the end and we had an excellent time, I'd def recommend it to all.

Are you looking forward to VC? Did you manage to get someone for your extra places? Sorry we couldn't oblige would've love it. Is Tim revving himself up for all the black runs? I saw your pics on FB in the snow - FAB! :D

Re:holiday in banff

Spent part of our honeymoon in Banff in April and absolutely loved it. We are thinking of going back for my 40th in January next year (first 2 weeks) but have heard it might be a bit too cold, and might affect the skiing (we are both beginner/intermediate). Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this would be a problem?

Re:holiday in banff

My first taste of real snow was in Banff about seven years ago. Always intended it to be a one only visit. Wife and I loved it so much we went back 4 times in the following 5 years. Absolutely love this place.

Always went around Christmas so not sure about January...though have heard it can get very cold (we have seen -20 and -30 on occasions in December so you would need to be prepared for some pretty cold conditions).
