Hi TonyCott welcome to J2ski :D I'm certain one of the Austria loving J2skiers will be along soon to give you some ideas, though in the meantime it might be a good idea to take your email address off the forum page, or you may get lots of spam. You could ask for information posted into the thread or sent to you though the Private Messages option.

Tony, i do believe from cardiff you can fly to salzburg with flybe possibly, i'd get a flight with them and then hit the ski amade area and probably the salzburger sportwelt, maybe the resort of flachau from which your in a central area. http://www.skiamade.com/en/winter/ Try this website for accomadation etc.

Flachau is the village of Herman Maier!

Re:2010 planning a trip

For a lot of skiing and a great night life, I would suggest St Anton, Ischgl or Mayrhofen. All are easily reached from Innsbruck, you can fly from Bristol with Easyjet I believe.

We avoid Bristol this side of the river.
The Severn Bridge toll has gone up to GBP5.40...Admittedly, that's only coming home

Tight? Me?

St Anton is fabulous for many reasons, but I'm not sure it's that suitable for beginners Tony. What's do you reckon?

What's do you reckon?

snowb4ndit is right, St Anton is a great resort but not for all beginners, they would be much better off in somewhere not so steep.
Youre right, apologies, I didnt read the beginners bit in the original post.
St Anton would not be right for them. There are plenty of resorts close to Innsbruck. Zell am Ziller would be a good suggestion for beginners.

Even ones from "that" side of the bridge..... )
