Re:Summer 2009

Going to the V festival, Looking for the cheapest way to ski in Chile and then researching ski holidays for 2009/10. Will probably look on the internet for mountain restaurants/cafes/bars for sale and dream about leaving London to serve gluehwein and ski on a mountain for ever and ever. now i'm beginning to see why my oh says I'm obsessed!

Planning either S'France or Madeira in June. Long weekend in Amsterdam in couple of weeks. Couple of long weekends fossiling in Lyme Regis. A weeks camping and surfing in Newquay. Otherwise garden projects and do up Hubbys den. Thats about it really. Plus if finances are right looking to go to Hintertux in Oct. Oh and my customary few days at Wimbledon with my son.

Re:Summer 2009

Not cheap, especially as a single traveller. There are budget options however, but at 33 I am no longer prepared to spend 7 days in a box with 3 long haired fellas shouting "gnarly", "dude" or "rad" every 5 minutes.

In Portillo a week in main season is about:

$2700 for a double room, single occupancy in the 4/5 star hotel with access to the main dining room (7 course dinners!!!)

$650 will get you the afforementioned box in a seperate building, sharing with people called "Brick" or "Randy" and access to the cafeteria

Then there is a mid range option also.

It is also worth noting that it is significantly cheaper at the start or end of the season.

Obviously it is significantly cheaper to travel as a couple or group when booking the main hotel.

All packages include:

* Seven days unlimited access to ski lifts.

* Seven nights lodging

* Four meals per day in the best ski resort in Chile (breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner).

* Complimentary use of pool, jacuzzi, fitness center, gymnasium, aerobics and yoga classes, cinema, game room, children's activities, disco, piano bar, ski check, boot check and timed race courses.

*Arriving guests will receive their rooms by 2:00 pm. Check-out is before 11:00 am. If guests check out before 10:00 am, they will receive an 8th day of skiing FREE!

Flights are another thing altogether, I got business class return for 54 EUR with my airmiles, so it helped me for the accomodation.

Re:Summer 2009

a couple of months ago crystal priced up a 10 day trip to santiago/portillo for me. two adults, a 12 and an 8 year old... GBP10,500! obviously I jumped at such a bargain

We're winging it this summer, book the time off work and wait until as late as possible. Hopefully we'll be doing something in october for my 40th but don't know what yet. possibly learning to dive, a safari, a city break or maybe (just maybe) skiing
Re:Summer 2009

Nothing too radical for me....camping & sailing in North Norfolk. Currently trying to buy a new (old) house, so there may not be any money for summer holidays for us :( OH is 40 in June, so if the house thing doesn't happen then I might treat him to a couple of weeks at a Neilson Beach Club. We did that for my 40th (yes..he's a 'toy boy') & had a fab time. I need to be careful that we don't deplete funds too much & thus jeopdise ski 2010!

GBP10,500! obviously I jumped at such a bargain

We're winging it this summer, book the time off work and wait until as late as possible. Hopefully we'll be doing something in october for my 40th but don't know what yet. possibly learning to dive, a safari, a city break or maybe (just maybe) skiing

We've done the same, booked the time off work, booked kennels for mr dog and on the hunt for somewhere cheap in the sun nearer the time.

Apart from that, lots of camping, first one being a beer festival in the New Forest in a couple of weeks, Easter on Exmoor, Whitsun in Dorset, plus numerous others no doubt. I'd love a long weekend in the mountains for some summer skiing but have now used up all my holiday. Think there's enough there to keep me entertained until the snow starts to fall again.

Funnily enough I too have been thinking about my summer hols - must be the good weather 8) As is the usual going to our caravan in the Vendee for a month (just for me and daughter OH and son will come out for a week or two). Will be putting the boat back on the lake soon so lots of weekends on Windermere planned too. Can't wait till daughter gets older because I would love to go back to the Alps in summer. Got one last long ski weekend at Easter yet though

I will be going back to the UK for a few days to see the folks and then a week at a black sea resort, either Romanian resort or Bulgarian. We have stunning weather here in the summer (average 30 degrees) so there is no need to travel to far for some relaxing beach time.

We saw Oasis at the rose bowl in Southampton a couple of years ago. You are in for a treat Tony.............Although it was absolute carnage I have never seen so many ambulances and police in my life. It was a big gig about 40,000 people started at 12noon went on all afternoon, Oasis on at 8oclock. So many wasted people scared the C**p out of me. Oasis fantastic though. Did any-one get the free Noel Gallagher cd in one of the Sunday papers this week its great.
