Where to holiday with young child???

Hi, we are looking to go on holiday for 1 week next year probably either December, or Febuary, taking our son, who will be 2yrs.
Where is best to go for good standard of childcare, and actvities?
My husband and myself are intermdiate skiers.
Thanks n advance.
Isobel :D

Just remember, 2 years is not too young to start sliding around on skis...

When Little Wickham was that age we used childcare in Valfreus, Serre chavalier,Morillon and Le Grand bornand
we found the standards pretty good and did not experience any problems. 8)

Next week we are going to St Francoise Longchamp with friends who have a 1 year old. They have her booked in with ESF child care. Our kids have had skiing lessons with ESF starting at 4 years old which have always been very good so I am sure they do good childminding too. Rough guide - 20 Euro for 3 hours or 50 Euros for a day. And they are at loads of French resorts.

We are off to Levi in Lappish Finland.
Taking kids aged 3 and 5 just!

Good activities aside from the skiing and some good empty slopes for the kids to practice on too.

I'll post something about the adventure upon my return.

Re:Where to holiday with young child???

If you can weather the enormous cost, Scott Dunn childcare is fantastic. We were with them at Courchevel when Junior was 3, and again this year at Val d'Isere. Familywise, Laax has been doing a lot to attract the families. You might also want to have a look at Hillwood Holidays, who do free childcare and creches and operate in Les Gets, which is a mercifully short transfer from geneva which has a plethora of airlines servicing it so a better chance of value seats...

Hi, we have just come back from la plagne and the childcare was excellent thru crystal ski.My advice is look at crystal ski website and find out where there childcare teams are situated its mainly france! clavier in italy and ellmau in austria!! also we stayed in a family plus chalet which means childcare facilities are on site or next door which makes life for us parents really easy when dropping off and picking up!!!Also chalets are great because they are a big house so no probs with putting them to bed and sitting up enjoying a drink, hope this helps

I have also used Crystal on a few occasions when the kids were still very young and found them pretty good. A number of the clubhotels and larger chalets have creche facilities on site, e.g. Valle Blanche in Alpe D'Huez or Totem in Flaine, so you don't even have to bring the child out in the mornings to drop them off and as Russco pointed out, you can relax at the bar once you have them down in the evenings. They also do early kiddie meals which also help. Don't forget to pack the baby monitor - an essential piece of kit for happy parents .

I'd highly recommend Esprit. They go to 17 resorts and were absolutely superb with our kids, made it very stress free.

oh, and the kids enjoyed it too

They've just released their preview price brochure.

Have a look at Leogang, we have a kindergarden for skiers and non skiers from 2 to 7 , its well run with good staff. Villa Kunterbunt is at the bottom of the Gondola station . The ski school here will put them in at 3 if they can cope and dont get too upset at being left. you could try mornings in ski school and afternoon in nursery or vice verca. Need any more info get in touch. :P
