Salomon instinct 9

I have very 'odd' feet. If I'm correct the Salomon Instinct 9 has a custom shell which I'm beginning to think is what I need. The blurb describes them as boots for expert/pro neither of which am I.

Has anyone got any advice or opinions on these boots?

Re:Salomon instinct 9

I tried on the Falcons, which have the custom shell, and they were the most uncomfortable boots I have ever worn. I ended up going for the Impact 8's which have custom liners and have bedded in very nicely after a hard weeks skiing.

But aren't they supposed to do all sorts of things to them to mould them to your feet. Resulting in upmost comfort?

Re:Salomon instinct 9

Theres only so much they can do. They were so uncomfortable to begin with it wasnt worth carrying on. The assistant in the shop said a lot of people said the same thing when trying them on, and they will only do the heating up of the shells when you commit to buying, which there was no way I was going to do when it felt like someone was stabbing me in the ankle with a screw driver.

I haven't tried them on yet, but will bare that in mind. I have just had an alteration done to my current boots but am unable to try them on yet...got to wait for toe to heal first. Might not need to bother with new ones if they're ok. :-)

Re:Salomon instinct 9

Turned out he only had a bruise!

I stupidly (but you will understand) continued to ski all week despite a very sore corn on my little toe getting worse as the week went on. Used a corn plaster when I got home...it continued to get worse. Eventually phoned a chiropodist last Tuesday (snow day and no school day) and they were very concerned. The corn had developed into an ulcer! Now I have to have a strange bag on my foot and have to keep it dry (bath only with leg hanging over the side). No pressure allowed therefore no closed in shoes and a new dressing everyday. Have been wearing pink fluffy slipper socks to work!!!

Re:Salomon instinct 9

No pain at all as long as nothing is pressing on it. Maybe it's pay back for being sarcastic about my husbands toe.

Was told at first 8-12 weeks to heal if it's well looked after. But on next visit they said it's started to heal and if I continue with the PFS's it should heal in 2-3 weeks. Phew! Skiing in 7 weeks.
