Daniel Albrecht - Training Crash

Firstly, has anyone any update on Albrecht's condition? I hope he is ok.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h_Uq3Eeku3o&feature=related

Also, do my eyes deceive me, or did the bindings actually come off his ski's. And if they did, did this contribute to the accident?

Re:Daniel Albrecht - Training Crash

Don't be disturbed by the 'fatal' tag on one of the youtube videos - it's some arsehole's idea of a joke.

Reuters report doctors are otpimistic he'll recover from head and lung injuries but he remains in an induced coma. Crikey!

Re:Daniel Albrecht - Training Crash

It certainly looks like the bindings have broken free. From other racers' comments there was wind which caught under the tips of others skis at that point and there were some other near accidents.
AFAIK he is in an induced coma, with head and lung injuries.

I was shown a report this evening saying that he'd lost his nose, hope this is also speculative. Or, let's hope it's the least of his worries.

Re:Daniel Albrecht - Training Crash

I agree with the view that having such a large jump at the end of the course is more about viewing figures and sponsorship than racing. If I want to see skiers making big jumps I watch a big air competition. It's totally different from catching some air on the course.

Trencher

I am with you on that, Trencher. Sometimes the jumps are more scary than exciting.
