1st trip of the season

Hi all. New to the site, this being my 1st post. Just wanted to say im getting ready for the first trip of the season and heading off to Italy this weekend. Can't wait. :D Sorry just needed to share that with someone.

Hi RoosF, were off to La Thuile on Sunday. Where are you going? And yep I can't wait eithier. Ive packed and re-packed at least three times this week.

been to la thuile 3 times great place make sure you go over to la ros well worth the trip it only takes 20 mins have a great trip i gnext thursday cant wait as long as my chicken pox clearup fingers crossed

Hi Charlie26, thanks. I havn't been there for a few years but I remember the skiing over to La Ros. From what I remember its a pretty quite place. Good luck with the old chicken pox.

I've booked up for going to Italy in March 09. Just booked the flights to Turin (2 pence per person - that's including taxes and charges ;) was a special deal I came accross, 6 pence return for 3 people. That's what I call a steal.)

Never been to Italy before mind you. Just booked it because I could, haven't dealth with accommodation etc as of yet - I'm going to Alpe D'Huez on Saturday for a week - Cannae wait! :D

2 pence flights were from Ryanair, they were doing a 'ski seat giveaway' - I posted a thread on it a couple weeks back. The offer has expired now though, but keep your eyes open.

The baggage was GBP30 per suitcase to check in a return flight. GBP60 to take your ski equipment on a return flight.

Haven't booked those as of yet, but can be added on at a later date :)

I don't think it is.. Considering Easyjet and the like are charging GBP50 return for ski requipment and GBP20 or so for baggage.
Good in terms to budget airline to be honest - We're talking about taking a bag, skis, boots and flights for 1 week @ GBP90.02?

Decent in my opinion :)

It is a good deal considering most people rent gear so it is only GBP30 return each. Con? Nah, deal!

Although for those not taking their own skis (which the other two booked aren't taking their own) it's working out at what, GBP40.02?
Still, ski hire is ontop of that and of course, might even cost more on the overall cost of the holiday for them.

But hey either way, I'm happy with it :P

GBP40.02 for those without skis, yeah thats good. I just dont like Ryanairs baggage restrictions and ski carriage charges.
BTW, Easyjet charge GBP16.50 each way ski carriage.

For the record, you can fly BA to many ski hub airports for under GBP100 return, and they include 23kg of luggage and FREE ski carriage. Plus you get a far far better standard of service. Not sure about from Glasgow to be fair.

Selling flights for two pence is a con the quicker there is a law in place to stop this mis-selling the better it will be for all consumers :evil:

i hired adult skis in sauze 4 35 pounds 4 6 days hire so flights and ski hire would be 65.02 for a week peak return last fri leeds ;london was 200.some people are never happy

Tony, remember we have to fly from Glasgow, BA has NO foreign destinations from Glasgow (or any other UK airport except London ones) so the extra leg costs.
