Ski Collection at the airport

This is fork from lost skis!! warning and advice needed

It might be an idea if their was a thread advising what is the ski collection procedure at airports.

I have only had experience of Milan Airport, Italy where the skis come with the normal luggage

In Poland I hire skis as its not much more expensive then taking your own

Calgary and Toronto both have separate oversize collection points. As does Glasgow for reference.

Re:Ski Collection at the airport

I tend to Drive or go by coach avoid the stess and hassel of Airports if possible however for those that do fly why take your own skis???????
If your going BA or something then fine but as im sure most people go sleasy Jet or The Irish one that i cant mention without my blood pressure going off the scale then what you pay for the pleaasure of taking your own can be spent on a nice new hire pair for the week. Gives you the oppertunity to try different pairs during the week as well.

And you dont have to lug them around the airport.

I can try different pairs of my own skis during the week?! Driving from Scotland would take forever? I like having my own skis? I wouldn't be able to get the skis I have on rental? The skis I would be able to get would have rental bindings and I would have to pay for the privilege? Carrying an extra bag for 20 minutes at either end of your journey in the airport is hardly a reason not to take your own skis.
