What is fascinating to me about the sit ski being used, is that it's a pair of skis which work independently. Every other sit ski I have seen is a single ski.

Rose, did you see the footage of touring bindings and skins in use in the early part of the film?

I imagine it's quite hard to get to be that good :D

no, ain't no skiing here, just a couple of drag lifts, they dropped in for lunch, that's all filmed at Verbier which is where everyone should really go.

Great Film!

Not sure who filmed it, but Guido Perrini has done a lot of stuff with the Falquet brothers.
In my early days in Verbier he was a ski bum with a 16mm camera, these days he makes some awesome movies.

I did and then watched it again. Would that be the sort of set up suitable for what I want?

Yes, along with a set of skins, this sort of setup would take you where you want to go. Here is a link to the Fritschi site.

On the r/h side under Technologies, most of the headings lead to little moving demos of the features. Many of the features are common to all makes of touring bindings.

Hi Bandit, thanks for that, I will certainly do some investigation while I am away. I really think its the way for us. We are not ones for up the lifts, down the slopes, then repeat. We want to get up under our own steam, have a walk round, come down in our time. We are certainly non conformist skiers.

You'll may find in Finland they go for Nordic touring more than alpine touring, it's more like cross country with slightly more robust kit.

Now, assuming one wanted to visit the area where this movie was shot, which one obviously wouldn't due to factors mentioned above, what hotels would be recommended, hypothetically of course? )

I imagine we will be doing more cross country than any-thing else, especially as the tracks are straight from the cabin.

I really wouldn't bother though, there's a lamentable lack of facilities for advanced skiers, most of the mountain hasn't even got prepared runs :!: There's a whole side of the mountain here where they can't be bothered to prepare it and just claim it's a freeride area (whatever that is)

Thanks Ise, I'll look them up online. Not that I would want to go there of course, un-prepared runs, freeride area - Whats the world coming to?
