Just received my new Inghams early bird ski cat, is it me or do the prices seem a lot more expensive?

Banff Int not listed but average price flight and room only in 4*hotel about GBP650 plus supplements minus early bird/internet booking per person per week.

Seems steep to me and the supplements are quite high 'cos all rooms seem to be based on 4 person and self catering or extra for meals.

We were looking at going to whistler and couldnt get a price below GBP4900, :shock: does any one want to buy a kidney :lol:

Thats a hell of a lot of money for a family holiday. I would have to win the lottery for that, its such a shame 'cos I think that would be a fab holiday

Thats what we thought Rose, With not going this season we thought we would have a bigger holiday next season.That was for just flights and rooms as well.I reckon the prices are over inflated due to olympics been held.

AJ, where are you looking at whistler for that, could throw you a DIY together for about 6-700.

Too expensive, but with the pound still dropping it could be the cheaper option. The room supplements have always put me off of going over the pond with the TO's. If and when I go it will be DIY. :wink:

Have a look at Inghams. Last year we did a 2 centre to Banff and Jasper in March - around GBP700. This year its Banff and Panorama - around GBP700!

Ok, we have to eat out, but for 2 weeks in ski utopia, dont think its too bad. And I would challenge anybody to DIY for anywhere near that price.

Anyone been to Panorama?

Been to Panorama, didn't ski though. Friends did, wouldn't spend more than a day or 2 there based on what they said (mostly due to lack of things going on at the base).

Its where my Hubby wants to go, he wants a change from Austria. But I am terrified of flying so try to opt for Europe, shorter flights and transfers. But am gradually building up my flying hours, so maybe next year.

Brucie, CSIA course, eh? Were you just thinking of doing level 1? It must be the cheapest way to get at some of the best instructors at Canada. The periods of time where my skiing improved the most was on course plus with the teaching element you can help yourself :D

I'm a level 2 International and have done the Level 3 but not taken the exams yet.
You are right, Its the best for ski improvement money can buy, and a qualification too.
I was actually thinking of doing a CSCF 1 just for fun.
One of my trainers was Casey Bouis who is technical Director at Sunshine, so will be hooking up with him and seeing whats on at the time I'm there.
I presume you have CSIA quals Ross?

Yeh,CSIA2 CSCF1. Unless you are really interested in coaching kids your time would be better spent elsewhere than CSICF, I feel. There isn't much of an emphasis on skiing, or teaching just trying to make the kids have fun-I guess if you are in to it then it is a good thing to do. Plus you don't get the full qualification without shadowing time...

RossF we were looking at anywhere near the base of Whistler or Blackcomb.
Had a look on the net this morning and The Westin Resort &Spa was GBP 5000 for ten nights.The problem with having kids is that you pay adult prices as they dont have child discounts.

I`ll PM you later with some details of what we would like from a holiday over there.

Yeh do so, dates numbers etc and I will look for you. The Westin is nice but expensive.. it is only a bed for the night :wink:

Comparing directly next year's prices to this year it looks like flight & BB accom is GBP55 per person more. This is for 2nd week of Jan in Westendorf. Lift, tuition and kit prices have hardly changed.

I don't like to rub it in for those of you based in the UK but make sure to check the small print. With the deterioration in Sterling, it would seem logical that the 2010 Sterling prices for Europe should be 20-30% higher than 2009 (including, in particular, lift passes, ski-hire, etc).

I suspect that the early brochures are based on an out-of-date or positively optimistic exchange rate and that the small print allows them to charge a potentially nasty currency surcharge :x.

AJ, I did a DIY to Whistler. Good airfares with BA. Booked a house on the net for 6, Two couples and two singles. There are regular buses leave Vancouver airport for Whistler. We took a luxory minibus and driver for not much more than the bus, and took the return by bus.

Lift passes are expensive. Eating out seemed to be similar to UK.

Big issue with Whistler is the low cloud/mist, giving poor viz. This happens regularly, but you won't read that in the brochures!

Good ski bus system.

Does that mean you won't ne going to N in 2010? :shock:

I believe the TO must absorb the first 2% and the maximum charge is up to 10% if the currency significantly fluctuates. I don't know but would imagine you have the option to cancel also.
