Christmas Break

Hi, I am looking at spending the xmas period (starting 22/12) in the snow. I am in a group of 4 friends. We want something that has good snow. We are not the best skiers so a mass of black runs is not important. We would like chalet style with ski in ski out at about 500 to 600 GBP. In a resort with a variety of activities and lively apres-ski.

we are not set on a country, but have heard higher resports are better for that time of year.

Any suggestions?

Height isnt everything - last year Austria was doing much better than other countries for christmas snow - we even have snow now and some places are open already.

Have a look at Flachau in Ski Amade, 45 mins from Salzburg. It has loads of nightlife/clubs. More info at www.skiamade.com and www.flachau.com :)

Val Thorens in Frnace is your best bet for ski in ski out at Xmas and guaranteeed snow.

The Austrian resorts tend to be lower, and you need to cable car up to the slopes often.

VT is at 3000m and has a glacier. If you really want a party, go on the ski train.

Re:Christmas Break

I speant xmas 3 yrs back in andorra, met some great folk, loads of great skiing and very cheap, (GBP350 hb) plus pas de la casa has awesome apres ski. Think andorra struggled for snow last year tough? I'm still gambling with andorra in january though. It's La nina year apparently which suggests Andorra will get a shed load of snow. Not sure how true this is?
