doing the tight turns thing

Hey dudes and chicks.
I've been ice skating for 5 weeks now and I'm working on keeping my hips, knees and boots paralell (sp) while I'm slamoning from side to side on the ice. How can I simulate making tight turns that you would use to stop. Without falling on my bum. I's gots balance like a squirrel on a live wire :)
*hehe anyone esle guilty about walking about thier house in thier skis ?

rock on

-IceGhost

Newton's Third Law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

In many sports, this is a fundemental concept to understand. There are times when you need to minimise a movement because it will cause an undesired reaction and there are times when you can fully utilise the reaction.

The Hockey stop is a maneuver that fully utilises the reaction. The upper body rotates one way and in reaction the lower body and skis rotate in the other direction, across the the line of travel.

As with all movement, timing is key, also edge angle and weight distribution.

Trencher
