Hi Tom,

i also live in the SW, so travelling can be a nightmare.
The Austrian Rail website is great, also in english upto the point of buying tickets.
www.oebb.at they will give you the various options from waterloo.

hope this is helpful

Re:night train to austria??????

hi 030262 thank you 4 the reply and i will take a look at that site,al though i have spent days surfing the net and have found what seems the easiest way,and for those who may want to go the same route read on,the time table for the bergeland express has not been released yet so the times are a rough guide catch eurostar from london waterloo apx 3.30 pm on friday arrive brussels apx 1900 friday,-----------change to bergland express which leaves brussels apx 20.30 and that will go direct to zell am see arriving apx 11.30 sat morning my hotel can be walked but other destinations can have coach tranfers for apx 30 euro ,the main reason we are going by train is you can ski on the saturday we arrive and also the sat we shall be leaving as the train does not leave until 18.00 hrs , i hope its going to be as relaxing as it sounds ,and we are looking forward to meeting new people at the bar on the bergland express ,cant wait ps can a 6ft --17 stone man use the big foot skis !!

Re:night train to austria??????

I looked at doing Austria by train but the number of changes was horrific. I've driven it 5 times now and would say its been around GBP350 all in with ferry & gas. Great for taking all your own gear with you , and even better for bringing loads of beer back on the german stop on the way back.I have got a mercedes Vito Dualiner ( 6 seater)so it's got loads of space for the kids to have a punch up on the way down so that comes in rather handy.

Rustyinn is a mine of knowledge on Zellam Zee.
I was amused to see an advert at the weekend, when in London, for a train to Worgl! There is a link to ZAZ from there.
