Kirsty Muir finishes 4th (again) at Winter Olympics in Livigno

Team GB's Kirsty Muir claimed 4th place in the Ski Big Air at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics yesterday, just missing out a medal for the second time in a week.

The 21-year-old learned her skiing on a dry slope in Aberdeen but has already represented Great Britain at two Winter Olympic Games, following her debut at Beijing 2022.

In Beijing, she was Britain's highest placed freestyle athlete, with a 5th place finish in the Big Air. She went one place better, but sadly just missed out on a medal.

With the best two scores from three jumps counting, Muir opened with a solid right double cork 1080, before a switch 1620 on her second scored her the highest mark of the day and put her into the silver medal position.

That meant she would be the penultimate skier to come down the Big Air ramp, by which time Muir and her coaches knew that only a super high scoring run would win her a medal.

On that final run she tried a new trick that she's never landed on snow and failed to land cleanly.

However, despite leaving Livigno without a medal, Kirsty Muir can look back on a successful Games where she gave her all and has hopefully helped to inspire future generations of skiers into the snowdomes of the UK and onto the slopes.
