Colorado Help Please! Resort/Solo/Early Season/Car

Greetings! Looking for any tips from those who know these mountains and areas, given the following criteria.
Solo trip, 33 year old male, leaving wife and infant home in nyc for a few days to adventure a bit.

1) Snowboarding 20 years or so. Adv/Expert, but I prefer a mix of everything on the mountain. Nothing tooo crazy, cant afford the injuries :) Some groomers, some backcountry, and I love fun tree runs. Snowboard (jones mountain twin, burton genesis)
2) renting car in denver airport (Car type- is economy ok? or size up?). Flight home not until 11:30pm so I don't care how far of a drive.
3) Should I split the trip up between areas? I haven't booked any hotel/room yet. Up to 200/nt.
4) NOTE: will be on the mountain dec 10-14 (4-5 days). I realize its early season and good snow can be hit or miss... but its the only time I can go, so these dates are already locked in, unfortunately.
5) love scenic beauty
6) dont care about the shopping and "nightlife", I work in nightlife in nyc and will be alone in CO. I'll have a few beers after the slopes and burn some green a bit throughout the day

Please help with whatever you can! Thanks in Advance
Peace + Gratitude
Jax

Hi Jax, I am planning a trip during the same time frame. I have the mountain collective pass so am thinking 2 days at Taos and 2 days at Telluride. It sounds like we are similar in how we like to ski and board. I have the Jones mtn. twin too and love it. I am trying to save as much money as possible to allow me to ski as many resorts as possible with my pass. I am driving out from Michigan so have a vehicle. Would love to share lodgings with someone or a group to save money. Hope the snow cooperates. My wife will go to Tahoe with me but not other resorts. Sugarbush is on my list for out east.
