long weekend destinations in late november

hi guys, I'm looking for a little advice on destinations to go to late november around 24/25th for a long weekend. on a weekly basis I've no problem organising myself as its pretty straight forward with the flights being sat-sat or sun-sun but the flights, say on a thursday to monday are few and far between from what i can see. also does anyone have any suggestions on resort with all this snow we're getting.it'd be nice to blow the cobwebs away and try my new gear that arrived today. thanks in advance

Hi Ade I can't see any problems getting flights or accommodation. If you are booking yourself for a weekend could work out expensive with flights, transfers and accommodation. I have been looking and I'm sure you know but just because there is good or excellent snow the resorts are not often open this early . However a few are and some may open early.. Good luck.
Re:long weekend destinations in late november

Hi andy. Thanks for the reply. I've found some reasonable flights from Heathrow to Geneva on 24th back on 29th so I booked them. Return with baggage GBP133 which I thought was reasonable. Now to find some accommodation. To be honest, work is crackers at the moment (self employed) so need a quiet weekend to recharge. May look at tignes or VT and la plagne are having their opening weekend that week so that may be shout. Thanks again.

Obertauern opens next Wednesday and is only an hour from Salzburg. Perfect for a cheeky weekend.

Haha. Yes it is. I looked into Salzburg but nobody was flying there in the dates I needed unless I took a stop and the flights were about 7hrs that way so bombed that idea. I suppose at least with Geneva I've got options. I think?!?

Re:long weekend destinations in late november

Flaine is having lots of snow and is not too far from Geneva and I think there is a bus. But sorry not sure if it's open. Can be great snow there had a fantastic week there last year. The town /village is horrible unless you like concrete and not many bars or hotels , but for a few days it's Woolf be ok.

That's a good shout actually. An old work colleague has a couple of apartments there. I'll look into it. Thanks again.

Re:long weekend destinations in late november

I decided to go with old faithful and am staying in tignes le lec. Been to le brev a couple of times and had a fantastic trip and what helped was the fact they are opening the EK major links this weekend (a week earlier than their last early opening announced date of 26th) also I read on my powder alarm from J2 this morning that a potential 202 cm of snow could be falling there next week. One can live in hope.

Good choice I think. More snow coming in this weekend and then temperatures rising a little, but not enough to affect anything at altitude.

Very jealous!

Thanks for that adders. I'll put in a couple of turns for you. This will be my first time back on the board since dislocating my elbow back in February. Ouch!! So I'll be taking it a little leisurely for this one.
