Ski consumer study

For part of my undergraduate degree i am collecting data on ski consumer decision making and need a variety of respondents, the survey should only take around 5 minutes and any participation would be hugely useful.

Here is the link: http://goo.gl/forms/Ml3vzgbPYi

Thank you in advance for taking part

Re:Ski consumer study

Wouldn't accept my answers either, Lota.

7 answers? But there were only 6 on offer.
Answered, with most responses in the final column, would not accept.

"What other facilities and activities would you be interested in when on a ski holiday?"

Golf,
Zip-lining,
Whitewater rafting.
Paintballing.
Bowling Alley.

HELLO, I AM A SKIER!!!!

Not a well designed questionnaire,

Re:Ski consumer study

Wouldn't accept my answers either. I design questionnaires for a living, but as you are inexperienced I won't crack down on you about the poor design of your questions. HOWEVER, I would say that the number one rule when running an online survey is that before you launch it to your respondents you should test it out to make sure it works. You have failed to capture information from at least 3 people who were willing to complete your survey, all because you didn't take the trouble to iron out the bugs.

Re:Ski consumer study

Could you give me information on which questions you were unable to answer, i ran the survey on several different programs to try and fix issues and thought all of them had been addressed.

Dave Mac, the question you are referring to was asking to rank in order the sources of information used so could only give one response per question and answer 7 should have been there but needed to be scrolled across to be answered? Sorry for the miscommunication, I have rewritten the question to try and make it more clear. Thank you for your feedback

Re:Ski consumer study

Tried it again - says I've selected more than one answer when ranking information sources for a ski trip that are most important. I didn't.

Can't be bothered now!!! :(

Re:Ski consumer study

Trouble is, consumer surveys have to be painless for the respondent, not an obstacle course. Consumer isn't interested in the intricacies of survey-design, he/she just wants to talk about him/herself. A sensible survey takes advantage of this.

Re:Ski consumer study
Completed.

When writing up remember that the top marks will not come from just the statistical analysis of the result but also from describing the potential flaws and bias in your method of acquiring data e.g. optimism when ranking our skiing ability.

Also make sure you place within a framework such as Porters Five Forces e.g. Whistlers decision to make itself resemble Centre Park suggest that it no longer sees itself as competing solely with other ski resorts.

Will be far more interesting than saying 10 x 30-40 year old guys like bowling and beer with their skiing.
Re:Ski consumer study

i also foolishly tried to complete this as well. Still I found it interesting and have to disagree with some of the comments. Posters on here may have no interest in non-ski activities, but plenty of people do. Ski resorts now have to compete against alternative holidays - that may be Disneyland or Universal Studios - it doesn't mean people don't want to ski or they don't like skiing any more, it just means that when presented with a choice that works for all members of the party, skiing can lose out.

Add to that the continued and increasing risk of global warming and shorter seasons, then it makes sense that ski resorts are diversifying their offering so they are more 'adventure' destinations, rather than just 'ski' resorts.

Whistler is only recognising this trend and acting on it now.
