Skiing in Courchevel? Whats it like?

Hello!

I'm hoping someone could help, we're looking for a Ski resort that neither of us have been to. We've heard good things about 3 valley's.

My Mrs is pretty good (very comfy off piste etc) and I'm an "advanced" skier (whatever that means?).

So what's the skiing like? Any recommendations for restaurants etc?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

T1b

Re:Skiing in Courchevel? Whats it like?

Discovered the 3vallies last year loved it great skiing enough for everyone whatever their level. Depends if you just want to ski or party as well on where is best in the vallies. I went on one of my trips to Meribel Mottaret no nite life as such but I thought the location was very good being in the middle with easy access to rest of the vallies.
Skied to Courchevel but have not stayed would not be my first choice as restaurants were very expensive. In conclusion I'm sure you will enjoy the 3 vallies just decide where you want to stay based on if you want nite life and budget.
Andy

Re:Skiing in Courchevel? Whats it like?

Hi T1b.

This is our 4th time back to the 3v in 2016. We love it there, the variety from off piste to slopes of different class is difficult to beat. In the time we have spent there we still haven't covered everywhere.
We usually stay in Mottaret, and Andy is right in the nightlife is restricted, but down the road is Meribel with lots of places, and there is a free bus that runs through the evening back up the hill.
Courchevel is a lovely ski resort, and all of the areas have different things to offer. The biggest (1850) can have outrageous prices and for this reason I would avoid it too. I would much prefer to stay where I do in the 'middle valley' as it makes journeys less of a hassle, especially as the day draws to a close and lifts home are needed.
Regardless of the downside of Courchevel, the whole area is excellent and wherever you choose you will have a great time.

Steve.

Where are you thinking of staying? We have stayed in 1650, Reberty and La Tania all of which are better value generally. 1850 can be horrendously expensive - avoid Chalet des Pierres in particular. 1650 is probably the furthest however for getting to Val Thorens and back.
We found Le Bouc Blanc above La Tania to be welcoming, reasonably priced and good foodwise.

Have a look at the Sella Ronda, Italy. Great circuit, cheaper costs and lift passes than France if that is a consideration. Choose to stay in Selva, Arabba or Corvara.

I was looking at mid Jan however, have been pretty jammy (very jammy!) and scored a trip to Whistler. long story but the Mrs has a meeting in NY late Jan but the company has given a green light for business class flights return (which equates to flight \ Condo \ lift pass for Whistler and flights back home)
