Easter Accomadation ,Book now or wait

We are flying to Geneva 3rd April for 5 days ,looking to Ski in France within 2 hrs drive of Geneva

To cut down on cost i was looking at a few resorts with cheaper Ski passes ie:La Clusaz etc ,but obviously those resorts don't have the high altitude of the more expensive places.

I prefer to wait until a few weeks to check snow conditions .

So my question is does accommodation sell out fast at easter?? ,so needs to be booked months in advance

thanks

Two points yes accommodation will tend to sell out but I'm sure you will find something as long as you are flexable. As you are skiing at Easter I would beware of booking anywhere too low especially early as you have no idea of the snow conditions. I have had both great and terrible snow at Easter . If you were hiring a car to travel from airport you could delay decision till last minute and thus have upto date snow info. Enjoy your trip.

Les Deux Alpes is a glacier resort . We have skied twice at Easter, the very lower slopes are a bit iffy sometimes but it is guaranteed snow and then you have the glacier too. We take our motorhome to Venosc just below the resort and stay at Champs du Moulins campsite. They have small lodges there. The downside is that the lift passes are on the dearer side. Definitely worth a look.

Should have added that they are relatively empty at Easter.

Re:Easter Accomadation ,Book now or wait

It's not that dark in April, so with 4.30 pm arrival if you drive in the dark it will be for a short period and only if you go to the farthest from GVA resorts. Probably worth a wait to see how the season develops. If December is warm again with no snow, lower resorts probably won't be a good bet for April as thinner base means that even only one warm week in March (which typically happens) will do a greater damage to snow pack.

Re:Easter Accomadation ,Book now or wait

Another possible approach is to stay in the valley at a central location, and accept it'll be a holiday driving to the nearest good resort for the day. I know, this isn't for everyone, but the upside is that you can pick and choose where to go and try out more than one resort. Being in the resort has many advantages, of course. But if you're after keeping the cost down, you may find this saves money against being somewhere that's on-piste. This might not work if you have children in the group, or mixed abilities, or if some of you are likely to want to call it a day well before others. But if you have a group of more experienced skiers who generally stay out most of the day, it might be an interesting alternative as well.
