Ischgl march 22nd milder weather .

Heading out to ischgl 22 nd march for 4 nites . I see the forecasts are predicting temps of 8 degrees come the weekend and set to continue into next week above average temps . If this was to continue until I go in just over two weeks what's the likelihood of having decent conditions to ski in ? I am well aware of how unpredictable mountain forecasts can be and how quick they change. Usually always ski first week of feb so this late in season never experienced hence reason picked ischgl being higher resort well that and the apres ski !! Is the apres still as busy and mental late march ? Cheers

If the temperatures do remain that high, you will probably get the classic freeze thaw conditions which may well make the slopes a bit icy in the morning and turning a bit slushy later on. Given the height I wouldn't expect this to be a huge problem but you might need to be selective about when and where to ski the different areas. As a general rule, it is better to head over towards the Swiss side early as it is South facing and will soften up quickest. As the day progresses, make your way back to the Ischgl side which may have been icy in the morning but should now be in much nicer condition. If it is that warm, the home run may well be particularly horrible by going home time - think large wet slushy moguls with lots of skiers struggling, some them of under the influence :roll: . Might be wiser to download on the lifts :lol: .

As for apres-ski, I suspect it will still be heaving :mrgreen:

Cheers for the good advice . As long as we have decent snow to ski on and not slush everywhere and apres is bouncing we will be more than happy !!
I take it resort is still quite busy then ?

We were there last year for a long weekend about a week earlier than you are going. It was still busy and great fun. Its a wonderful ski area and condition should be absolutely fine, though you might have to plan out your day to get the best of the conditions :wink:.

The apres is mental if you want it. We tended to head to the Kitzloch (I think) which had the traditional Austrian Euro-pop/local ballad type music which does tend to lead to lots of dancing in ski boots, sometimes on tables, etc. Its a fun place if you like that can of thing :mrgreen:.

At the table next to us, a Scandanavian group had bought a 5 litre bottle of Grey Goose vodka - yes, 5 litres :shock:. I think it cost them about Euro900, though the Red Bull may have been thrown in for that price :roll:. I think they worked through it over 2 or 3 nights but were completely hammered by the time the apres finished at 7.30pm :oops:. The big hotel at the bottom of the home run, whose name I have forgotten, was also very popular. A particular "attraction" for some was the girls in skimpy traditional outfits gyrating on the counters :x.

I am off to Solden tomorrow, warm temps forecast next week after lots of snow this week so expecting typical spring conditions which Mrs H will like - lots of sun and warm acres outdoors. Best look out a few extra ski t shirts!!!

It does look amazing certainly can't wait to head out there . We def like our Austrian apres can't beat the partying after a good days skiing . Done St anton last couple years it was superb . I think we will give the 5 litre grey gooses a miss just stick to the quality Weiss bier and jaegers !!
Plenty of apres ski spots to try out hopefully manage most of them and make it up for early lifts in morning lol !!

Next week will be amazing out in the sunshine ! Contemplated solden last year done st anton instead be interesting to hear about it . No doubt visit in the future .
