Late Season Skiing

Where are the best places for a late season ski break, probably the last week in April, the main operators will have stopped so I will need to book flights and a hotel / chalet.

high altitude resorts obviously. Particularly this season. Due to funky weather early season many lower resorts may not have much left on terms of base by late April.

Somewhere with a decent sized glacier as a back stop.
I skied Tignes a couple of years ago last week in April and we had some good snow around.
Limited runs open, icy and slushy and fresh powder and rain and sunshine and snow !!!

Personally, I would wait till much closer to the time, then book somewhere according to conditions within the last few weeks.

Most of the high resorts close 1st week of May. As long as you accept that you will need to get up early to make the most of conditions and bin down to resort level then plenty of options available. That time of year plenty of hotel and flight space so just book the week before.

I'm going to Engelberg on April 20; last season went to Saas Fee at a similar time of the year. Some great deals on accommodation to be had and the restauranteurs etc are very glad to see you!

Well worth looking at Sweden, we regularly go in April. Check out skistar.com for everything except flights.

Glacier resorts obviously: I'd say Hintertux, Val d'sere/Tignes, Les 2 Alpes, Val Thorens, Cervinia, Saas Fe would all be good that time of year.
