Working a ski season in Canada

Hey guys so i was just wondering if anyone had any advice or experiences that they could share about working a ski season in Canada. I was thinking of going to either Banff or Lake Louise but there's so many other options as well that I haven't got a lot of information on. Would it be recommended that i start applying for winter jobs now? Or wait to go and just wing it at the job fair? I'm hoping to head over there in August of this year so I'm not jumping straight into the crazy winter temperatures (I'm from Australia, not at all use to the cold). Please share any tips/advice/stories!

Thanks :)
