I have used Skiset in Tignes for skis and they we're fine.
And have had lessons with TDC (The Development Centre) and there are great. I would advise using a British ski school, Not a school with French teachers who speak English. While they may be fluent, communication can still be very difficult. And definitely not ESF.

Re:SKI HIRE & SKI SCHOOLS IN VAL CLARET

We've used Ski Republic in the past and they've been cheap and efficient with a good standard of equipment. They're next door to the bakery in the Borsat end of VC.
This year we tried Tignes Spirit, paid a bit more and we did get really good kit. The main reason we chose them was because they offer to fit at your apartment. This I reckon is only available on non-changeover days though. We ended up being shuttled to their shop in Le Lac, ("we're too busy today to come out, you could wait till tomorrow but it'll be later in the day" (Not good) then standing around on the last day in a blizzard trying to return kit to a chap in a minibus. Not the convenience we paid extra for! Hey ho. Next time we'll go back to Ski Republic.

We've used Ski Set Deep Snow in Val Claret. Excellent service and very friendly. Not sure if they have lockers though.
