I skied the face the day after race day a couple of years ago, at no point did I feel in control. I'd love to try it on race prepared skis, on my all mountain skis with fairly blunt edges it was horrific!
Looked even worse today.

Bit like pretty much everywhere Tony - needs the fresh forecast this week and then some to get things well covered for the winter.
But Xmas is still over a week away!
Go and look at the Serre Ratier webcam in Serre Chevalier if you want "looking really worrying" snow conditions.

Steep slope, not a lot of snowfall. Been there several times in mid Dec when the Face hasn't been open due to poor snow coverage. They have done extensive work to add extra snow cannons and help retain snow. So they are more able to guarantee their World Cup event happens. In previous years they will have canceled, as they have on several occasions.
Higher slopes will be in much better condition.

Tony France has hardly as snow during December and it shows …. new snowfall the end of the week though :thumbup:

We were there this weekend and watched the GS, the sloapes were in very good condition everywhere else but the OK and Orange were closed ready for this weekends womans downhill.

As Noddy says, just back and I skied Le face 3 times last week - day of the slalom the top part was superb snow, skied again the next day, snow fine, and bottom part of the run was still in 'race condition' and was patchy - ice / ok snow. the final time it had been bashed and was fine all the way down.

Snow in the whole area was decent last week but little base and very little cover off piste. If the Christmas storm delivers it will be lethal off piste fr a while.
