Ski tracks App

Just for all those new to the ski / boarding game there is an excellent App that you can get called Ski tracks. It basically turns your phone into a GPS and lets you know the distance you have gone, altitude max sped etc and puts it on a map. Well worth the 69p and you can show your mates how fast you have gone whilst having a few beers...

Re:Ski tracks App

A great App, the OH and I both have it on our phones and compare distances and routes as well as top speeds. The app sometimes loses it's gps signal and I have a top speed of 278.1 mph as a result :-)
Other features include that if you take photos in different places on the mountain, they are noted on the routes.
Well worth 69p

Boardbiker! Much respect! 278mph, 447kph, a new world record!!!!
Beats my puny 102kph. And swallows my friend's 240 kph, (then a British record!)

For this reason, I am not a fan of the accuracy of apps. When I broke the Niederau day run record, there was a wheen of local analysis that would far out weigh any apps!
Re:Ski tracks App

have always found these apps to be a bit hit and miss as others have said, will be trying my garmin watch out this season, trying to top 278.1 mph sounds like a good plan if I can just find a slope quiet enough :)

Sitting is wasting time Iceman, just point the board down the hill / off the cliff and vvvrrrrroooommmm lol

Joking aside...

We like the app as it does give a record of where you've been, runs done etc and the odd loss of GPS is a small matter. Most importantly of course it clearly shows I can boogie down the mountains

Re:Ski tracks App

From the website FAQs:

No - Ski Tracks does not require any data to work.

WARNING
If you use your phone abroad and turn data roaming on - using any GPS application may download small amounts of data when retrieving locations and for this reason we always suggest the Data Roaming is set to OFF.
The settings we suggest are as follows:

iPhone Settings -> General -> Network -> Data Roaming (OFF)

If you are on a fixed data plan or want to be extra careful about your data usage we also suggest turning OFF Cellular Data as well.

iPhone Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data (OFF)

Wifi should be left on for use where a wifi connection is available.

Note: Ski Tracks will not work in Airplane Mode.

Used the app every day on two holidays last season. It only lost gps once during 14 days skiing. Really impressed by the data collected, maps, graphs etc.
