All round best choice from Geneva?

Our group has suddenly expanded to 8 and we are looking for an ok quality 5 bedroom chalet near slopes good for beginner to intermediate.
I did have one verbally booked in Chatel thinking that was a bit cheaper area but am wondering now if morzine or elsewhere would be better? No car so need good quick access to slopes. Any ideas gratefully received. We have booked flights to Geneva in early feb

Re:All round best choice from Geneva?

Spent a week in Morzine with Alpine Answers about three years ago. Can't remember the name of the chalet but do remember that they had a number of chalets in Morzine and our one was certainly of very good quality. Have a look at their website.

les Carroz! THE shortest transfer from Geneva and access straight into the linked 265km of the Grand Massif.

Re:All round best choice from Geneva?

Can't recommend anywhere more highly than Les Carroz: easy access & 265km of superb pistes. I wouldn't bother looking anywhere else for a week's great skiing (& apres-ski)

Re:All round best choice from Geneva?

I would stay in Avoriaz, ski in/out, no cars in village, highest area to guarantee decent snow coverage.

Re:All round best choice from Geneva?

Agree that Avoriaz (& Morzine) are good but Les Carroz, with its access to Flaine, Samoens, Morillon & even Sixt, take a lot of beating. All those pistes! - I can hardly wait!

Re:All round best choice from Geneva?

Morzines access to skiing is a little over rated, If you're going up the Prodains to Avoriaz everyday it's best to stay in Avoriaz, otherwise you still have to get to the prodains car which is a bus ride from Morzine, Pleney side (although a new lift) can still take ages to 'get up' the mountain as everyone piles up there first thing so can result in long queues - plus the next lift up doesn't really take you 'up' anywhere, more along towards lets gets side. SuperMorzine doesn't really access much terrain and is really only good for getting to Avoriaz (if you're going this was it's better to take prodains).

The resorts mentioned in Grand Massif, will only be ski in/out in a few places, so unless you can strike a blinder of a deal you'll still be getting a bus to the slopes.

I'd stick with the Chatel choice, by the sounds of it it was your first choice. If you've got a good chalet in mind go for it.

Or go catered and get a free minibus ride to the slopes :D
