Any one uses standard shoe insoles in there ski boots

My ski boots came with 2 insoles in each boot but i lost a set.As i only realized a day before my ski trip i used a old carpet tile to make some.They seemed ok but one foot would ache a bit near the end of the day..They may of been a bit thick.
I thought ill pay out for some expensive insoles from amazon. Within minutes of testing them at home my feet were killing me.I tried a few others but none of them seemed great.
I just bought a pair standard insoles from pound land and they feel really comfy

Custom footbeds are brilliant as they hold your foot in the optimum ski position for your unique foot; this is not the same as your walking position. If you are comfortable and happy with your boots then the insoles you have are fine for you.
It was only after I got several ski trips under my belt that I got custom orthotic footbeds, it changed the game for me. I would not go back to stock insoles now but before I got them I was convinced they were just another way to make money for the boot fitter. This is not the case.

If you rent, and have pain in your feet and arches they recommend using your shoe insoles.

Agree with lillywhite, I was cynical at first then found an independent analysis conducted by a university in the states recommending you use them so I got some and eureka,what a difference they make. It all depends on shape of your feet and whether you under or over pronate.My feet are normal but they've certainly made an improvement to my skiing,giving greater stability. Recommend
