Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

Hi
new to posting on this forum, been viewing for years!
Does anybody know if its possible to ski from the top of westendorf down to the link for Kitzbuhel/Kirchdorf area. Last year we thought we saw some piste signs but haven't been able to find/look at a piste map. Did't like to go on down without knowing we could get back up. Will have the combined pass that covers both areas.

Thanks
Lily

Re:Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

Hi,
It is not possible to access the Kitzbuhel/Kirchberg skiing area directly from Westendorf. You can ski down from Westendorf to the valley station between the town of Kirchberg and the village of Aschau and then take a skibus to the Kirchberg piste area.
The ticket system is different for the SkiWelt(Westendorf) and Kitz/Kirchberg areas but there are tickets that allow access to both areas.
NC.

Re:Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

Thanks NC. I;m presuming there is a lift back to the top if you do ski down. We normally buy the all star pass which should cover us for Kitzbuhel and I think may cover ski bus.

Johnt
if we do venture over will let you know about cost,
Re:Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

You need the AllStar Lift pass

Head down to the bottom of the Ki-West lift and then short bus ride to the Pengelstein 1 lift in Kirchberg, then pengelstein 2 and ski over to Kitz quite quickly.

Think the bus routes do link through Brixen to Westendorf anyway if the lifts close due to bad weather, but if you stay later for a drink then use Stefan's Taxi from Westendorf as I remember them being very reasonable, think they charged 50 or 60 euros for a return trip to Soll (was split with 8 of us though)from Westendorf and I think Kitz is slightly closer by road than Soll.

Re:Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

Hi SnowLily,
Its important to realise that the Westendorf ski area and the Kitzbuhel/Kirchberg area are separate and distinct. If you do skidown to the valley station of the KiWest lift from Westendorf, you need to take a short skibus ride(free) to one of the Kirchberg lifts which link in with the whole Kitzbuhel area. Obviously to get back to Westendorf, you need to take the skibus back to the KiWest gondola which takes you back up the mountain and you ski down to Westendorf.
If you havent time to bus and ski it back to Westendorf from Kitzbuhel/Kirchberg, there is a fairly frequent train service from Kitzbuhel and Kirchberg that stops in Westendorf and Brixen on the way to Innsbrook.Alternatively you can get a taxi but much more expensive! Hope thats helpful.
Will be off to Kitzbuhel myself on Saturday for 2 weeks. Have a great holiday!
NC.

Re:Westendorf to Kitzbuhel

Thanks NC. Will have to make sure we get our timings right, Skied Westendorf last year for the first time and loved it. Would have gone back but our last day the snow was so heavy all but the main gondolas were closed.
Can't wait to go now, just hoping for some decent snowfall to refresh the pistes. :)
Enjoy your hol too.
