Just for the day.....

Following a drunken discussion at the bar one night 5 of us are leaving Bristol at 3.30am and popping out to Geneva just for the day on 16th Jan to see just how many ski miles we can manage on a sub 24hr round trip.

Been looking to head for Morzine as it's not to far a drive from the airport and we know the area a little but open to other suggestions if anyone has any ? It's a resonably fast group of 4 intermediate skiers and a snowboarder.

Also considered La Clusaz, but we were there between xmas & new year so would rather do something different (plus rather to many drags around when we want to crack on).

Any thoughts folks ?

1 hour to samoens.....
8 mins in the grand massif express and ski the whole of the grand massif....time for a couple of beers before setting off home...

Whats parking like at the lift station ? (we'll be rocking up late morning Wednesday in mid January).

Looking at the piste map.. it's tempting...

Is Samoens the easiest/quickest base station to drive to for the Grand Massif ?

Loads of parking at GM express even in school holidsys, Jan will be fine.
Edit: getting your breaks muddled up!
Samoens is easy to drive to, but check out Les Carroz from Geneva it might not be much further.

At the speed you ski at, Rusty, should be looking for at least 80 ~ 100 km a day!

Parking easy at samoens...it's at 700 m so no worries about snow chains. Lift takes you straight to 1600 m.

How about Le Porte du soleil 650k skiing from Switzerland to Les Gets and about an hour and 15 from Geneva :thumbup:

Dave, I was purely illustrating your skill and speed on the slopes, no one could ever cast negative aspersions on your wonderful hospitality - and a certain evening in 'N' will remain long in my memory.

There is a circuit that people do in the Port de Soleil takes from first lift to last lift if you are reasonably fast
