What is your favourite ski drink?

There are so many different regional drinks in the mountains - what is your personal favourite 'on-the-piste tipple'and why?

Aperol spritz - Love it! Also tastes so much better in the dolomites, roll on February!

Has to be gluhwein, I like to try from a variety of places and work out who's is the best...needless to say I get through quite a few over the course of a week. But, a nice cold beer on your way back to the hotel after a cracking day on the slopes goes down well too!!

In my 40's now, skied since I was 12....Never once had a tipple on the piste :shock:

Chocolat Chaud for me.

Mrs H likes a couple of gluhwein's during the day, and I might have a shandy with lunch.
But for me the drinking starts once we are off the slopes, and I genuinely wish a lot more people adopted the same approach as I firmly believe we would see less collisions and accidents.

As for an apres drink, I'm afraid it's probably boring old beer for me. Peroni in Italy, original kronenborg in France (not 1664) and Zillertall Pils is the best Austria beer there is IMO.

I tried that aperol spritz in Venice and it has to be one of the worst drinks I've ever had, which is odd as I love prosecco

I would just like to point out I don't drink and ski...the gluhwein and beer is left for apres, I dread to think what sort of mess I'd end up in if I tried it at lunchtime!!

Also hot chocolate for me as prefer to save the alcohol for when I've taken my skis off.

Ideally should taste like liquid chocolate and need a spoon to finish off the remains from the cup.

For any hot chocolate lovers living near Newcastle there's a great little Italian place near the Theatre Royal that serves 'real' hot chocolate - so far the only place I've found outside Italy that does -)

On piste - Vin Chaud or hot chocolate, but both with a shot of Grand Marnier

Apres - Desperados with a jager bomb chaser!

Hot choc with a shot of sambuca from the hip flask, sounds disgusting I know but trust me, it works!

Vin Chaud on slopes. We also carry a flask with either branca mentha or fernet branca for emergencies.

I mostly keep my alcohol consumption for apres, but I do like a vin chaud later in the day or a shandy with lunch.

Mr Nelly usually takes a hipflask with JD in it on holiday then forgets it most days. Last year he packed it in his hand luggage and we had the choice to either leave the customs area and empty it in the loo, therefore having to queue again or drinking it.

Needless to say we drank it, despite it being 6am. Nice start to the holiday :D

Hot Chocolate with a glug of the Cap'n Morgan, mmmmmmm. For Apres, a gluhwein as a sharpener, after that it's up to the imagination, :P

And I'm guessing that Mr Nelly is planning to pack the JD hipflask in his hand baggage again! :-)

having only skied in austria, it would have to be gluhwein and like NellyPS it has to be apres. Feels too much like drink-skiing to imbibe during the day.
off to france for the first time this year so interested to find the french equivalent :)

I'm partial to the Aperol spritz in the summertime but when it's cold bombardinos are 'the dog's'. Forst or Goesser when it's beer o' clock :) . I could tell you about how a certain barmaid prepared Jaegerbombs in the Krazy Kangaruh but this is a family forum and 'little gaz' is getting all excited just thinking about it!!! -) :twisted: :oops: :thumbup:

Quite like the Zillertal but much prefer a Weiss beer if they are going!

Hip Flask = A good Cognac or Malt
