Item 4: Polar fleece Quiz

Most early European ski resorts evolved from local villages or inns over many years.

Name the first European ski resort that was designed and built specifically to be a ski resort. That is trails, base chalet and lodgings were all built for skiing on mountain that had no village, inn or hotel previously.

Now if you want to earn one extra point also name the family that was behind this project ( that financed the complete project ).

Aren't they all marketed as such? Anyway, I tried.. I am actually torn between the couple particularly ugly that I've seen, both claimed to be unique in one respect or the other, but no idea if any was actually the first::)

Thank you for your comments.

It saves "issues" after winner is declared. Each person should do own "research" and thus learn all about skiing.

Another comment to all.

Please when you send PM and state, "I found it",,,,,,,,that is not enough. You should tell me WHAT you found to be considered in the running for the jacket.

Several persons are now in the serious attempt for jacket.

Honorable Mr. F.Q. - part of the Pavel Quizzes is the slap to the forehead when the answer is given ! :lol:

I have several dents in my forehead from answer reading days of past Pavel Quizzes ! :lol: :lol:

I do have a couple of ideas for a reply but in need of many more than 20 seconds to check. Have you seen all the posts Ian has made !!! :shock: Lots of reading to go !

One of the "pleasures" of theses projects is to know the answer,know how clear the clues are yet Mike can not se them.

But then, Mike is not from England,,,,,,his "stars" are of another region.

However, when he gets the correct answer,,,,sees all the posts, he will slap his forehead twice.

It is there,,the answer.

Knowing your quizzes I realize that the clues are very clear. My frustration brings amazement to the others, no doubt.

My "stars" as you put it are of people and places not connected to the UK. Places like MSA, Tremblant, Sun Peaks, Martock and Wentworth. All in a different region. And on the people front my "stars" would be people like Nancy Greene, Mike Douglas, Ken Read. But combine the greatest "star" such as "S.G." and some "on-the-snow" time at Sunday River and you have an experience that will never be forgotten. (Speaking from Experience - of course!)

Now, my tenacious nature is awake and on the search again...
