In our own little bubble!

This was a new one on me.

French lads wanting an 8-man bubble lift to themselves, so to stop anyone else loading they each split their skis and put one per rack

(in other words 4 lads = 4 pairs = 8 skis = all the slots filled)

Selfish oiks.

Maybe they wanted to do "rude things" or smoking magic cigarettes in the lift....would you have wanted to be in there? :roll:

Where was this? And why didn't you just split your skis and fill the empty spaces? :wink:

I noticed just about all the main lifts in La Clusaz now have "solo" lanes and the lifties were being very pro-active in getting chairs and bubbles filled - so they wouldn't have got away with it there!

THey have solo lanes in Monterrat. Groups were going down them and then splitting themselves up amongst 4 bubbles. Good thinking :thumbup:

Just one thought here, but sometimes twin tip skis will not fit in the racks in pairs. Was it possible they all had to split the skis to get them in?

My sister has to split hers for most lifts (No comments here Icy :shock: ) and I had to split my Blackeyes a few times in Austria this year.

Hmmmmmmm thats just got me thinking about a time in ADH when a liftie snatched my blackeyes from me, tutting away, and split them to get them stowed away.

They are hardly twin tips but maybe some old racking just doesn't work anymore

Yep, that's the lift I did with the solo queue. Got off at the wrong stop and had to run back in again!!

It's not just young lads I'm afraid Snapzzz - I have to confess that four of us - how shall I put it - more mature skiers in Austria last week decided we wanted to be in our own bubble, so simply exaggerated how old and stiff and slow we were and took a VERY long time getting into the gondola. It worked :D

I would add that it wasn't busy and not many people behind us!

To be honest we like the lift to our selfs ..... you know what you get a lot of smelly people in telecabines 8)

That was our method during my seasonaire youth. Think we might have been doing something naughty though . :shock:

I have to split my skis otherwise they won't fit. But it's true that sometimes you just want to be in your 'own bubble'. I understand during busy times with lift lines etc. people can get into the bubble when it's already occupied using single lines. But I find it really annoying when 3 of us are sitting in a gondola on a quiet day with no more than 5 people behind us in a queue and someone gets into gondloa you are sitting in using a 'single line'. I mean why not give people some privacy and enjoy some too when it's affordable? It won't be longer than 1 min wait to get a goldola without anyone in it.

I quite like getting our group into one gondola and then standing across the doorway to avoid pushing Germans from getting in.
