Re:austrian guest houses

We stayed in Maria Alm in january at a lovely guesthouse, Aberger rosina, lovely older couple running it, we were the only Brits so had to play charades with the other guests over breakfast! Was good fun tho, very clean, quite spacious, close to bus stop, 10 min walk to town centre. Would go again, had previously steered clear of guesthouses, now I wonder why!

Stayed in one in mayahofen. Must agree with Lilly white on charades.ran by older couple i.e. 80 years old but they where lovely. instead of leaving a tip we bought toys for the grandchildren they looked after during the day, their reaction was amazing.

Stayed in several different ones in Mayrhofen. What you need to remember is that these places are peoples homes and they rent rooms out over the season.
We have found them to be lovely, often run by some quaint old characters. Always warm and cozy, usually quite traditional. One my mate stayed in had a sit up bath!
Bit like a catered chalet without the fluffy bits or food!
