If you could Ski anywhere in the world.....

where would it be?? I am getting married next year and our honeymoon will be a ski holiday, my mrs has said she would rather ski the best Ski area in the world than have a big wedding!! so now the search is on!!

we are even talking of doing the whole season some where if we can sort work out as we will be taking a year out after the wedding to travel :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I had looked at St Moritz for our Christmas trip but we decided on Cervinia so that I could afford a second trip at the end of Jan.

I am thinking Canada for the season so I can catch some Ice hockey to then down to Mexico for some scuba diving then South America for some travelling and try to get some Skiing in Argentina

Not sure how easy it will be to get work in Canada though only just starting to look into it all really but it's something we both really want to do.

Japan, Alaska or Utah would be my choices but none are really remotely realistic unfortunately.

Would love to go cat skiing somewhere-love the idea of living in a cabin, getting up in the morning and a cat takes you to all the fresh snow!!

Ha-i fair point that would be good!

Yesterday was a smashing day apparently, a foot of freSh snow, light wind and blue skies . I couldn't get up which was so disappointing Joe what makes it worse is it due to rain this week-no consistent cold spell!

I don't have enough experience of enough resorts to really offer a worthwhile opinion but if it were me then it would be a secluded cabin in Zermatt with stunning views of the Matterhorn.

Have you actually asked for two separate things though?

I'd be considering what time of the season your honeymoon is before trying to create a shortlist of places to go. Also what you both want from this? Amazing skiing - and what this is to you. Accomodation choices - out and out luxury for a special week or two? Or are you both of a mind that the skiing comes first?

Then the season thing as a separate question. Will you be thinking of any work or can you fund the season entirely?

Get married in the summer so you don't have to compromise the ski season? Also you could do Australia - a week in the sun and then head south for some skiing?

If you're getting a job or the season make sure you think of ski time-I was lucky enough to work 5 days a week 3-6pm which allowed for perfect ski time!!
Would steer well clear of bar/chalet work if possible

We are getting married August 30th as it's the date we met, but we are both prepared to wait until the ski season starts for the honeymoon, Skiing will be the most important thing on our minds! we have both been backpacking in our time and don't mind slumming it slightly if it was to give us the best skiing there is to have. I would be happy to work 5days a week as long as I get 2 days off to ski, we could afford to just go somewhere and ski for the season but then we would struggle to be able to travel afterwards so the thought behind working is that we will be able to travel after the season has finished, we want to end up in Oz as I have a lot of family that live out there.

The other option is to visit several resorts on our travels a week or so at a time which could be fun, I really have so many ideas but can't decide on what to do.

Whistler, Meribel, Zermatt or St Anton would be my choices.

Chalet work is great if:-
1. You work for a small specialist
2. You are time efficient and practiced cooks & cleaners

I know it is a long time ago, but our record when working chalets was being out the door at 9.10 am having provided breakfast, cleaned all rooms, cooked and laid out afternoon tea and prepped dinner. It did help being a blue sky powder day, our 4th season, and a chalet for 8 guests with 2 of us running it!

If efficient, in a chalet you should be able to ski 5 days a week from 10am ish to lifts closing.
