Theres no more skiing for me this year but i spend every waking moment on J2Ski and looking at webcams.
I am staring at my skis and boots that are on display in my back room.
I am browsing my photos and watching my videos every 30 mins.

I drink wine, plenty and let my mind dwell on the faust back into Flaine.

I want to ditch my life and move to the alps.....

I get my weekly fix in three weeks time but can barely contain my excitement.

Hello Jon and Helen, my name is Tony and I too am an addict :shock:

I have just unpacked, and when it is washed, I will pack it again, just in case something turns up as a real last minute thing. I don't want there to be any reason why I cannot get another fix this season. Skis are already polished and waxed, all I need to do is zip up the ski bag. Boots are staying dry and supple in my airing cupboard, boot bag nearby. Poles have been sharpened for anyone who gets in the way :twisted:

The worst thing is that people at work just don't understand :cry:

They all think I have a problem because I don't go on summer holidays to somewhere warm. They don't realise that it is they who have the problem and miss out on the greatest thing they could ever do by going to somewhere high, cold and snowy.

My boss gets suspicious when I talk about my addiction to powder :shock:

They just don't understand.

The Indian and the Sri Lankan I work with just want to watch cricket, and they think all the pictures I have in my office section represent hell on earth. They need to be educated!

Hi I am Michelle and I am an addict. Skied as a teenager and have never managed to persuaded hubby to go until last year (nearly 30 years later!) when I just booked to go to Andorra. We went Feb half term and then booked Pila for xmas this year. Looking to go again at Easter. Quote of the year from hubby.......................... "wish I had gone years ago" Duh really.

My name is Maria and this is the only place that understands the compulsion to check the webcam, look at the snow report, go on to You Tube to see if anyone has posted a new video in Zell am See in the last 24 hours etc. Sits back down and clasps hands together in shame :)

Hi guys

My name is Tony, I too am an addict.
I've just got back from Manchester Airport, 7 hours after leaving and the first thing I did was log on to J2ski. My wife tells me its sad. She is also an addict but won't admit to it. I have tried to get her to admit to the addiction but she is one of those who just takes everything in her stride and tries not to get all emotive.
My addiction is only fuelled by each and every ski trip, as the experience seems to get better and better, and coming back from a busy week away makes me feel miserable, depressed and quite down on myself.
Luckily I have less than 3 weeks until I can release some pent up frustration on the slopes of St Anton. But this will only succeed in furthering my addiction and I know I will spend the rest of March at least posting on here, discussing skiing with all and sundry, gaxing lovingly at photographs, la la la.....
I can't help myself. I try to stop thinking about it but its impossible. When I go to bed I close my eyes and send myself to sleep with pictures in my head of snow covered pistes and imagine myself hurtling down one of them.
I've even collected stickers from ski resorts and put them on my trailer which I take to the airports when I have large groups to carry.
I feel there is no end in sight. Fortunately.
Can anyone help me?

Hi guys, my name is Lily, I too am an addict, My partner is an addict and an enabler, he keeps leaving reminders on the telly when anything even remotely snow related is on, he checks web cams more often than I do! I blame myself for his addiction tho, I introduced him last year and the greedy monkey has clocked up 5 weeks plus numerous fridge trips already! We are also financially embarressed at this point in time and may have to resort to that well known rip off artist MR MASTERCARD to finance our next fix.

Just ask yourself some questions ........

1. Have you ever decided to stop obsessing about skiing, stop visiting j2ski, viewing webcams, cuddling skis, boots etc for a week or so and only lasted a couple of hours?
2. Do you wish friends, partners, colleagues and casual acquaintances would mind their own business about your skiing or boarding?
3. Have you looked at a webcam today? Even though you won't be skiing until next year?
4. Has you skiing caused trouble at home, work or in your [sic] social life?
5. Have you tried to get in that extra week or weekend because you just do not get enough?
6. Do you tell yourself you can STOP anytime?
7. Have you missed days off work because of skiing?
8. Do you think about skiing when you should be working, paying attention to partner, children, the dog?
9. Does your credit card cringe when the ski holiday websites are visited?

If you answered yes (honestly!!) to 4 or more then ..........

My Name's Icy and it looks like I'm an addict

1. I disappeared from J2ski after my holiday as my skiing for the year was over. I then gave in, it was too much to think that I was missing out
2. Yes, all of them. Just let me get on with it. But when I do tell you, please at least pretend to be interested and smile in the right places

4. NO. I am lucky that I just tell people that I am going - at home there is only the dog and she is not fussed :)
4a. However my addiction is rubbing off on those who feed their addiction too and it affects their life
5. YES and failed miserably :cry:

7. Apart from the 5 days i am off? ;)
8.Yes, ALL of the time - no matter where I am or what I am doing. In fact I did it in a meeting today with the chief exec, wondered, "he has loads of money, wonder if he skis...." :roll:

Late to this thread, but...Hello Jon, my name is Andrew and I'm an addict.

Currently sat with my boots on (I say it's because I'm recovering from injury and need to make sure they're comfortable; others beg to differ).

Have spent most of the day gazing at snow falling in Austria, Switzerland and elsewhere...

And, best of all, I have a new girlfriend who's into skiing!
