Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

A couple of questions on Ski Sunday -

1. Does anyone know if any skiing from VDI is being covered in this series?

2. Soes anyone have a link to any competition footage (preferably from Ski Sunday) from the Dace at VDI?

I have veen to VDI a few times (5 weeks total skiing) and have never braved the Face. Hope to break that fear this time (in three weeks). Am I mad!!

Thanks
Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

It's really not that bad at all. It gets Icey but then again so do most black runs. The mad thing is skiing it as quick as you dare and then thinking I did well there, and then watching bode millar footage (attached) on YouTube and just realising how mad they attack these runs......

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

The big difference is the time of day. If you ski it between 10 and 12 in the morning it is much much easier than the afternoons when it is busier and bumpy.

I love those camera angles, really gives a proper feeling of the speed they go at!!
The compression at the first gate would have my stomach in my mouth
Does anyone know how to get today's ski Sunday on I player? I can't seem to access it

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

Face run really isn't that bad. I'm by no means a good skier but ended up giving it a go.

The first half of the run is really good fun. The steep part at the end is daunting, but once you have the nerve to go for it, it's ok. It looks worse from the cable car than on skis.

Good luck!

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

Ski Sunday wasn't great - giant(?) slalom rather than downhill which I hate and a rather dull piece on Chemmy 'I'm rubbish and injured'.

Next week's should be better....

Chemmy was not on for long. While I love downhill, slalom is still great.

Have to disagree, chemmy was a good bit of eye candy ;)

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

Embarrassingly enough i had set the reminder on the sky box but then got involved in some hard
core ipad table tennis(Christmas present) and only turned it on at 1726!

I dislike chemmys commenting she is always good for some eye candy in my book!

I would agree that it entirely depends when you ski any world cup run-i did the hanenkam in kitz a week after the race after 2foot of fresh powder it was very tough!

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

GS for me is the best to watch. Fast and turny. Downhill is exciting but GS for me is the closest to how I ski, maybe a little slower 8)

I have to say I do not enjoy watching slalom. All banging into gates and wearing silly shin pads.

Re:Ski Sunday and Val d'Isere (Face de Belvarde)

I prefer watching slalom because the timing is so much closer and its more exciting-i prefer skiing slalom than gs though so i suppose that makes sense
not that i dislike gs-its still snow related after all!
