Dunkirk to Flachau

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience of driving from Dunkirk to Flachau? Mr.Tom Tom wants to put me into Germany from Belgium asap, but Michelin suggests other routes. Last year I went through Luxembourg(cheap fuel ))on the way to Oberstdorf, entered Germany further south, and had a terrible stretch on nothing more than dual carriage way, then aim for Munich - Salzburg -Flachau. I reckon 14hrs? Idea's and suggestions welcome!

skimac

Re:Dunkirk to Flachau

Did a coach trip to Mayrhofen 3 years ago. Left Calais at 6pm and with 2 long stops we were scheduled to be Mayrhofen by 8am. The route was through Belgium into germany asap. Tried and tested by coach drivers I would suggest.

Re:Dunkirk to Flachau

Hi skimac

I would suggest following Mr Tom via specific cities. We always now do Brussels, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich & Salzburg. We're just back from a great week in Flachau, perfect snow, clear pistes and friendly people. We would not even consider any other route and have tried many including through France over the many years of driving to Austria two or three times each winter.
It took us 12 hours on the way down and only 11 hours on the return, two of us alternating, but if you require lots of stops then obviously you will need to factor those in.

Good luck and good skiing

Rob
