I'm glad you pointed this out, Finn. I hadn't looked for a few days.

So what to do?

The other question is where to change your money.
The Post Office is offering 1.17, same with Travelex, M&S are 1.15, so where are you getting 1.20 from?

Hope you are not going down the postal route again Finn!

It was a small independant cash place where we live. They have been 0.2Euro above the post office rate for most of the year. Hand your cash over at the counter & you get your currency there & then.
One bitten twice shy, very careful these days Dave where I get my currency. 8)

Only reason I posted is we have seen the ex rate as low as 1.12Euro, whether your paying for a family of four or going as a single traveller every cent counts these days. Trying to gauge opinion whether folk think its better to wait or not.
Flying out 19th Jan.

1.20 is the forex rate. Given the heroic stand by Mr Cameron against the Franco/Germanic hubris I think it will head further north, so hang fire I say!!! :!:

Re:Buy at today's rate?

I'm hanging on - they've not fixed the troubled economies and the UK's choice not to lend money it hasn't got may have upset some of the euro economies, who are doing what they can to avoid printing (Euros and seeing their own wealth devalued). Once Germany & France have converted their assets into GBP, $ Yen, SF etc they will print more Euros the Euro will devalue further but at least it won't cost so much to bail out Greece, Spain, Italy....

Re:Buy at today's rate?

That settles it. If an economist and a guitarist says to buy now, we wait!

Dunno why I'm joining in this, I have a bucket full of Euros left over from last season, partly a slight miscalc, and partly cos of much lower ski costs than my budget plan. I can assure you, this is a rare condition.

Re:Buy at today's rate?

Well, I bought my 200 euros and spent my 600 or so euros on ski passes about a week ago and got 1.16 in Thomsons for the cash (don't know about the ski pass rate exactly but should have been a bit better than the cash with Visa), which I think was a reasonable enough rate.

Small fluctuations like a few cents don't make much difference anyway, unless you're buying a house or something. e.g. a 4% reduction in the rate we get, on GBP1000, is only GBP40.

I think I got about this rate last year, in Feb. It's surprising really the way the euro is holding up at the moment (or is it that the pound is down as well?).

Ally
