i would like to do a months boarding/skiing?

i would like to spend a whole month on the slopes, whats the best way around this? ive looked at booking a hotel on a hotel site, and seem to save a fair amount of money this way, but what would be better, fly? or drive there?

Rent an apartment, even cheaper. Drive out, so that you can experience more than one resort. Often a season pass is the best deal for a month.
In Montgenevre it's 660 for a season pass and 860 for 4 week passes.

If you ski low season, the accommodation could be very good value.

Base yourself somewhere with good connections, maybe in the valley rather than in the resort direct, even cheaper. Briancon or Bourg St Maurice spring to mind as examples.

Re:i would like to do a months boarding/skiing?

Hi Offshore,

There are quite a few things that can affect the overall price, of a months stay in the Alps,
have you thought of which areas you would like, also avoiding months which coincide with school holidays would be good.....so avoid February if looking at France for example.

You could fly and drive as you say , but for a month unless you are planning on travelling far and wide , maybe just a return transfer might be better.

with the actual where to stay bit self catering or half board would be my bet ( for example The Loft or ChillChalet in Bourg-st-Maurice are pretty good ).

jon.

If you're driving, invest in snow tyres. You can get some really cheap apartments for the month of January.

I recommend you use the french sites like Urbania.

http://www.urbania-vacances.fr/en/

They will discount if you book for whole month. You can get a studio for less than 1,000 euros, maybe about euro 800.
