It's coming

Towards the end of next week apparently. Getting colder, weather coming from the north.

Still need that snow dance on Sunday though.

They are only saying that because they know we're snow dancing Sunday.

If you don't take part the forecasts will be back to warm and sunny on Monday morning.

Its snowing in pitlochery at the minute-got a friend who lives there, its only 1degree here in east kilbride and just watching the blog from cairngorm on youtube-they are hopeful to maybe open next weekend if it stays cold enough!
Immediately made me go and look at my skis!

Zinal, Switzerland opened today, for the season. Lift tickets were 30CHF. It would have probably opened last week, but the resort hosted some FIS racing during the week, so it was probably a bit crowded )

Forcast said there was 12cms for Sauze next week. Looked this morning and now its only 2. ,.....there must be lots before the 17th Dec..............pretty please! )

Many times forecasts stipulate 10cm of snow and it always ends up nearer 30 :thumbup:

Thank you Bandit ..I was just about to reply in that vein...when you are kneeling in a foot of snow and your hands have turned to claws and you cant find the red bit to clip to the yellow bit ...and Snowb4ndit opens the window a fraction to say "Hurry Up!" and then closes it but you can still hear the smothered laughter..
Its not quite the same as "just slipping them on!!

And Scapula, I do realise that you have your own particular and unique set of "circumstances" to contend with. Something that, thankfully, I have not experienced!

But .....
Needing to get from Meribel Mottaret to Courchevel (and back) 4 times most Saturdays (sometimes 6!) in a Sherpa Minibus hones the skills needed.
Chains needed up in Mottaret, but not the road to, and through, Meribel. Chains needed for run to Courchevel (past La Tania, but that didn't exist then), but not in Courchevel ....
And return :mrgreen:

Chains laid out so they are not tangled .....
Decent gloves, not too thick ....
and practice!

That way you can just slip on those old snow chains.

Practice indeed makes perfect, for the rest of us, we need them on, at the worst of times and it's never quite like as easy as testing them on the drive at home

How are we meant to work out the coloured bits in low light!

If they slip on....generally they can and do slip off :(

Occasionally the PostBus from the railway station in Sierre is on chains..they don't just slip on as it's a regular 50+ seater )

i was going to say....whats all this 'slipping on' business.

I would say it is a very long way from slipping on in my experience. Would be faster for me to put 4 new wheels with studded tyres on!

I've just looked at the Tignes webcam (because it looks lovely at this time of day) and a sure sign that snow is coming has popped up - they are laying the tarp out by the lake which they do every year (assume to protect the grass underneath).

yeah i spotted that. last year they laid that down middle of novemeber. snow was there for the rest of the winter after that
