Swadlincote dry slope

Been there today to get a bit of practice in ready for our trip to ADH. They have installed a new sprinkler sysem which keeps the "snow" mats damp. It is a big improvement in my opinion. 8) Does anybody else go there?

No, although its not far from me (nottingham). Been tempted just to try it but i don't have too many expectations of dry slopes.

I owe my learning to ski at the swad dry slope as it is down the road from me ( Leicester ) but haven't been back since I "hit the hills"

Great for learning the basics, great for breaking thumbs ( I did ) :shock: but once done can be a little repetitive as can be the Snowdome at Tamworth.

Between my third and fourth seasons, we shared a house rental of instructors, (in Glossop), and visited Rossendale every Tuesday night for slalom race training.
Yup, broken thumb, split head, .......

The surface is more like a carpet these days & not the old honeycomb stuff that grabs your thumbs.

Had to say the moment I got onto real snow I've never been struck with the desire to return to the carpet. Might well venture up to Swad again this winter as my youngest's boyfriend is coming along with us & it would be nice to see how safe he is on planks as he'll only be on the snow for his second week & I'm not sure what experience he got on his week's school trip. Whilst he claims to be a rugby player he eats his steak well done so we'd best not go for trial by ordeal!
