Flybe ski excess baggage

Hey All, anyone with experience on Flybe out there?

Been ski'ing flying out with Flybe for as long as I can remember - no problems.

This Xmas I will be taking my own ski's for the first time. In fact ski's for myself and my wife.

Question - I gave pre-booked 1xexcess baggage (ski's) as we have a ski carry bag that can hold two sets of ski's.

The policy on the website is not clear - and when speaking to the Flybe operator he said - no problem to carry two sets if ski's in one bag as long as total length dies not exceed 1.85 and weigh more than 25kg!

So my question: will I get to the airport and find out something different? Anybody know? Can I take two sets of ski's (with s couple of pairs of socks) under 25kg in one bag? Or should I pay / book ANOTHER 1xexcess baggage allowance at GBP60?

Re:Flybe ski excess baggage

Never flown with Flybe, but other airlines charter airlines rarely weigh or check your ski bag at all. I've taken 2 pairs of skis in 1 bag with Monarch, First Choice, and Thomas Cook without anyone batting an eyelid in the past, and I've also not paid for ski carriage with Monarch and Thomas Cook and no one has queried this at check in. They just ask how many bags and record it at check in.

However, thats not to say some airlines or airports dont police it differently. If it clearly states your ski bag has weight and dimension limits, stick to it to be safe. I dont think you'll have a problem with they say 25kg max limit, my ski bag usually weighs 15kg and thats rammed full with skis, clothes, etc.

Thanks Tony, I understand. Worst case scenario I gotta pay more money at the airport. SO will go with the approach of 2 ski's in one under the weight limit and then see what happens.

Cheers for now.

Re:Flybe ski excess baggage

Website clearly says GBP30 per item, given that's nearly double what most operators charge, I'd have a sense of humour failure if they tried to charge me twice.

Re:Flybe ski excess baggage

I'm paying GBP25 each way with easyjet this year! Absolute joke! Need to make my hold bag as light as possible as combined I can only take 32Kgs between the ski bag & hold bag, and I've gotta try and get 2 pairs of ski's and a hold bag under 32 Kg's. Got a feeling I might have to wear most of my clothes out there lol.

The tour op airline charters ie Monarch, T Cook, Thomson etc are all charging GBP35 this season return for a ski bag.
BA is GBP56 if you prebook, thats for a 2nd bag up to 23kg or you can just take 1 bag with skis in up to 23kg for free.
Or you can book ski carriage with bmibaby and still get charged again at Geneva airport because their handler doesn't understand that 1 ski carriage means 1 bag and not 1 way.
9 euros credit card payment fee and 4 months to get a refund!
