Ski boot drying

Hi, I am a product designer at Bournemouth University, UK.
I am am currently undertaking a project to develop a ski boot dryer so they can dry the boot quicker and more efficiently for the energy used to power them.

Any feedback, thoughts or anything you think would help me to develop this product would be greatly recieved!

I have a very short survey that will take less than 2 mins, which would be great if you could spare the time.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JY55VG2

Thank you in advance

Lee Jones

Re:Ski boot drying

I've just taken the survey, but forgot to put in that the most effective ski boot dryer I've used was earlier this year in Jackson Hole. It used cool air rather than hot, and although one then needed to leave the boots in front of the radiator for a few minutes to soften them before putting them on, they were much drier than I've experienced using a hot air dryer.

Re:Ski boot drying

I never use a heated boot rack and I wouldn't use a heated boot dryer. I dry my boots at room temperature otherwise the liners expand and the first hour of skiing is agony. (I have odd shaped feet)
A dryer using cold air would be great.

Re:Ski boot drying

Thank you for the replies!
After that feedback I am looking into a cold air dryer with a incorporated boot warmer that can be turned on before use so the boot will be comfortable and warm.
A dryer using cold air seems to be favoured as the worry of ruining the boot liner is the main problem with many people using the product.

Thanks again

Re:Ski boot drying

I liked the question about drying boots in under two hours.
Personally, at the end of the day I put my boots on a shelf in a nice warm (but not too warm)room and pick them up in the morning dry and ready to go.
There are better things to do than work at drying your boots, eating, drinking and telling tall tales spring to mind.
Perhaps a ski shop might need something like this?
