All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

Can hubby wear a ski suit or would he be laughed off the slopes? We are going to Austria at Christmas and are trying to save money where possible.
The suit is mainly black, in ace condition and really suits him, it actually looks almost new.
Opinions, please.
Nothing wrong with a nice draught proof all in one. I still see quite a few being worn in various resorts, so go for it

Personally have always preferred a one piece.
Ignore those fashionistas who say they are romper suits etc.
Except neon yellow/pink/purple etc of course, these need avoiding - threw my neon yellow/pink/purple Degree 7 away a few years ago.
Friend of my OH's saw it on the washing line and laughed - result.
Was bought a gorgeous red and grey Descente which has years of life left in it.

Re:All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

It all depends on the resort you are visiting I reckon. They are now called "Onesie's" and are worn by teenage ski gods with rubber knees and a snowboard attached to each foot.

Example here:

http://www.backcountry.com/norrna-lofoten-gore-tex-pro-shell-one-piece-suit-mens-nra0005

Can he cut it with the kids, or will a one piece make him look like HRH in his grey boiler suit (remember the photos?)

Alternative is to get down to HH/Mountain Warehouse/Regatta/D2B Outlet store and kit out in last years colours for very little cash :D

Re:All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

May I comment on the one piece suit ?

Yours ( in picture) is great! There was a period some time ago when "fluo" was the in suit color to wear. Those are "verboten" anywhere in the world !

In serious powder skiing the one piece suits are much much better since there is no way for snow to "'migrate" to back or to chest area!

What is more important than wearing a one piece, two piece or three piece suits is how you ski in this suit ! What will impress everyone watching is HOW YOU SKI ! You can wear old 1950's wool sweater, knickers, long long scarf and if you ski effectively all will smile !

Fashion is not the key word,,function is !

Enjoy your suit. You look great in it. Now if you show us how you ski,,,,,,,,

Respectfully,
Pavel

Re:All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

Hubby hasn't skied since the ACL, so will make allowances, especially as the suit is a snugger fit now!!
The photo is from Megeve, last week in March 2010. As it will be Xmas, and we are quite cautious this time, we may just sit around soaking up the ambience, then again, maybe not, the 12 and 10 year old can tackle reds, and I am checking snowfall constantly. I am already enjoying the cold air blowing today and wishing it were December.

Re:All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

I bought a onesie couple years ago for a "One-piece descent" - an event organised in resort every season, when you go all the way up and then ski down stopping at bars for a shot wearing a one piece suit. Also bobble hats, silly sunglasses, wigs, some people take out their mono-ski or old skinny skis... Very retro and great fun! Sometimes I see groups of people doing the same, clearly for a stag do or some other event. I wouldn't wear a onesie any other time. There are better, more comfortable ski clothes these days.

Great to see my old topic back in discussion, we actually sold it on Ebay in the end and Hubby went for a white ski jacket with a bit of red and black.
Will never know how many touches he would have had! He should be so lucky!
The chap that bought it was over the moon, paid about GBP16 I recall.
